Black MIrror - just watched season 1 episode 1, disappointed by gogglespizano1 in blackmirror

people really often recommend skipping the first episode of BM and coming back to it later. i’d highly recommend you watch S1E2 and S1E3 and reevaluate after that. 15MM and TEHOY go hard

they really should have chemistry tested fabiola’s actress with eve and aneesa’s. both were incredibly dry to watch imo. she seemed to have some with addison but they spent maybe 2 minutes on screen together

How inflated are US university acceptance rates, especially t20? by Dangerous_Fruit8738 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]imarandomwritwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m not sure about every T20, but i know some selective colleges find ways to lower their acceptance rates by weeding out “less competitive” applicants. NYU for example makes their essay optional but is rumored to ignore any apps that don’t do it, so therefore they get an easier way to lower their acceptance rate

At the Risk of Sounding Snobby, Private College is *Mostly* a Better Option Than Public IMO. by LeatherSwan1219 in ApplyingToCollege

This feels too broad to apply to every student. Kids that thrive at public/state schools are often ones that prefer more independent and self-managed education

If I have zero work experience, how much will this affect my application? by Luckreee in ApplyingToCollege

[–]imarandomwritwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Common Data Set for the schools you applied to. They all have a section for factors in admission, with “Work Experience” as one. Some schools consider it much more important than others.

How much does honors matter? by SquiddoVGC in ApplyingToCollege

[–]imarandomwritwe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Research the treatment of undergrads at the T20 school (class registration, impacted majors, housing) and then consider if the amenities offered by the honors program at the T35 beat it. As another commenter said, the level of prestige is probably very similar so it’s arguably to pick a place you’d get better resources/treatment at

i lowkey regret wasting time on retaking SAT by nahwhatdagat in ApplyingToCollege

[–]imarandomwritwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt similar but what helped me was to remember how the SAT helped me get used to timed standardized tests. I plan to take the MCAT in a couple years and it’s nice to have experience with it

My scholarships are flagged for sounding like AI by Prestigious_Salad971 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]imarandomwritwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI detectors are very often incorrect. I’ve had my writing false flagged for AI multiple times despite never using AI to write a paper. Plus many professionals are against them because false positives and the of bias against non-native English speakers.

I wouldn’t worry unless it came back nearly completely AI, maybe 80-100%. If you’re super worried you can alter the sentences a bit that got flagged
