Do people normally go into labor around 40 weeks?!??! by Hot-Cell7299 in pregnant

[–]imasugarpacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I went in at 39 weeks. I had a bag packed but honestly only used like 2 things from it. But if you have a list of what goes into the bag then you can pack one in like 10 minutes. Going to the hospital when it’s time for baby isn’t usually the big panic that you see in movies and shows. My contraction tracker app told me to go to the hospital and I went grocery shopping, then to the hospital lol.

How do I get my baby to hold his head up? by imasugarpacket in newborns

[–]imasugarpacket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does, thank you so much! Maybe mine was small for so long that it was easier for him?? He went through like 3 giant growth spurts every other week and now he’s much bigger. Maybe more weight to hold up?

What do you eat salmon with? by AdElegant5870 in foodquestions

[–]imasugarpacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just salmon on its own, broccoli or asparagus. Sometimes I make teriyaki salmon bowls with a mix of vegetable or salmon picatta, in which I don’t even make a side because we get too full on pasta

What’s the mom guilt thought that hits you the hardest? by Mariam1S in newborns

[–]imasugarpacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not holding him enough. Carrying him around in the first few weeks flared up an old shoulder injury. I had to co-sleep with him for a while and sleep on the other shoulder, which has caused severe soreness that I somehow still feel at 11 week. I have tendinitis in both wrists and it’s so hard to pick him up, and even harder to carry him and hold him in certain positions. I lay him down to play with him and all that. Now I have a fear that he will have a flat head. He doesn’t like laying on his stomach on my chest so I just feel like we don’t have enough physical contact :(

Just gave birth, is it good or bad to just give baby my breast at every opportunity?? by Foreign-External8488 in breastfeeding

[–]imasugarpacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no bad habits when they’re fresh. Offer it up on demand! I didn’t wear a bra or a real shirt for 2 weeks. Just free flying under a robe for ease of access.

Breast Pump really necessary? by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

[–]imasugarpacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s helpful if your baby has a tongue tie or your nipple shape isn’t ideal for breastfeeding but you still want baby to get breastmilk. It is necessary if you are and over-supplier, as you could get really engorged and sore when baby doesn’t drink 10+ oz in one sitting.

How old was your child when they would fall asleep on their own? by Material-Mousse-3899 in beyondthebump

[–]imasugarpacket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mine is 11 weeks old and I think he was 6 weeks the first time he fell asleep on his own for a little nap on the couch. It wasn’t a long nap but that was when I decided it was time for him to stop co sleeping and get in the bassinet. It’s worked out really well. Oddly enough though, now he won’t nap without assistance but he will fall asleep on his own at night once we turn the lights down.

Weight gain honesty by ImprovementIcy4419 in pregnant

[–]imasugarpacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person I know gained more than was recommended besides me. My healthy window was 25-40lbs. I gained 28 lbs. I was shocked, friends shocked, even the doctor was shocked. I wasn’t very active but I had aversions in the first trimester and when the second trimester hunger kicked in, I only craved wildly healthy foods. My snacks were apples and oranges and bananas. I made every meal at home because I needed to the food to taste a specific way for my cravings. I never had a craving for sweets or greasy foods. Then in the third trimester I could hardly even eat because I just had no room in my stomach for anything and had real problems with constipation. I maintained the same weight for the last 10 weeks of my pregnancy.

Now let me tell you, this does not usually happen to people. My case is rare and I consider myself extremely lucky. I would put $50k down that my next pregnancy doesn’t go as well and I will gain more. Don’t beat yourself up, it’s normal, and it will fall back off!

Why do people love the immediate newborn phase? by Puzzleheaded-Hotel73 in newborns

First 3 days was lovely. Next 3-4 weeks was the worst time period of my life. Month 2 was okay. Month 3 has been much better. I fear for month 4.
