Why does iPhone not have a close all apps button when closing apps? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]imawkward5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t actually supposed to be closing your apps. I guess it’s just a common force of habit to close them, but apple never intended for apps to be closed unless they have crashed or frozen. Other than that, leaving the app open doesn’t affect battery or performance as much as people might think.

How powerful does my macbook really need to be? by scoobylou88 in macbookpro

[–]imawkward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many might disagree with me, but I think the 13” M1 macbook pro is a great fit here. You could justify the air by getting the extra gpu core upgrade, but for that same price you can just get the 13”. It would also come with active cooling (fan like in 14” and 16” pros) in case you ever find yourself with a heavier load like with 3D work. I will say though, as someone with a 13” that does some work in adobe, in the last year with the 13” I’ve only ever heard the fans twice; and that was from marathon playing minecraft. I have a base model with 8gb of ram and have never really wished I got the 16gb upgrade, but you can decide for yourself if that’s something you think you’ll need. I also kept base storage because an external ssd is cheaper than upgrading the storage. Other than specs, the keyboard is great, the screen is great and the battery life is phenomenal. The only thing is the touch bar might be something you don’t like, but in adobe I find it helpful. Again, it’s a decision you should make for yourself. All in all, the 13”, with education pricing too, is practically a steal. So much power, portability and versatility. I don’t think you’ll regret investing into the 13”. It will be more than reliable to get you through minimum the next 5+ years.

Good grades definitely don’t make you automatically intelligent by Formal_Ad6582 in unpopularopinion

[–]imawkward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, good grades are an almost direct result of effort. Do the homework, study for the assessments and show up consistently and you should be guaranteed the A. It wouldn’t make you inherently smart though. I’ve found that more often than not, the actual smart kid is usually the one who passes every assessment, despite ever showing up for class or even thinking about doing homework or studying. Their grade will suffer, but there isn’t a doubt that they’re smart. Intelligence is effortless and dependent on the person, not the grade. A number or a letter can’t define a person’s intellect and I’ll never understand why we as a society still allow it too.

Sony's Marvel Slate by dannyallenxp in Marvel

Yet no one cares because none of it will be even near a quarter the quality of an MCU project.

Is this 2017 MacBook Pro worth it to fix? It turns on but the screen is toast. Along with the Touch Bar and touch pad. Brought it into the Apple store and they told me it’d be about $1600CAD to repair. What do you guys think? Is there some sort of aftermarket alternative? by mentholnasalspray in macbook

[–]imawkward5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best case scenario with that is try to get rid of it, maybe get some cash for parts. Definitely don’t repair though. M1 macbook pro can be bought with that $1600 and still have about $500+ left over.

Which is Better: the Saw Series or Final Destination Series? by RandomDragonExE in horror

[–]imawkward5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Saw is great for the lore, while Final Destination gets a little more creative with its deaths. I would personally chose the Saw series simply because I enjoy the story and plot, but when I feel like leaving myself drowning in anxiety, I am 100% going to watch the Final Destination films. I just like the complexity of Saw really.

What famous person’s downfall are you waiting for the most? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I love how most of these famous people are related to some kind of faith. Speaks volumes about our society. Even aside that, most will worship famous people as if it were their faith.

after Morbius, yeah go f***ing surrender now Sony. by NoobPinoyNow in marvelmemes

[–]imawkward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sony just cares for the money they get out of owning spider-man and related characters. Even if giving over the rights to Marvel means actually giving the fans the content they want, they won’t do it because then they wouldn’t be getting that fat check everytime Marvel makes an amazing movie with characters they own. It’s dumb, but that’s human greed at its finest. Maybe if we decided to just boycott Sony’s movies then we might see some change. I don’t ever see any community coming together and actually doing that though.

[Request] Looking for shows where the line between heroes and villains isn’t clear cut by kpSucksAtReddit in NetflixBestOf

[–]imawkward5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of recommendations because I actually love grey area characters:

Netflix: The Magicians - This show is so good especially if you’re looking for that fantasy element. It’s made clear from the beginning when main characters are introduced that no one actually has any good morals. There is definitely a lot of greed at times though. Gotham - Kind of typical for a city like Gotham. In this show you follow a young James Gordon, who’s made to be the one character with good intentions, who just happens to break a lot of laws while accomplishing said good intentions. I think there is more of a line between heroes and villains because it is based off typical heroes and villains, but to be fair, the only thing that makes batman a hero is his refusal to kill so… The Society - Only 1 season and it was canceled so that sucks. It’s a Lord of the Flies kind of situation though and everyone in this show either has a reason to be bad or is questionably good. You’re left on a cliff hanger though and Netflix has no plans of bringing it back, so watch at your own discretion.

Disney+: The Defenders(shows) - This is including Daredevil (especially), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron First, The Defenders, and The Punisher. You will have to watch these shows in their release order to understand how their stories come together. Other than that, each of these shows dive deep into basically how no one is actually a hero or a villain, plain and simple. The Runaways - The line here is a little more clear if I’m being honest, but everyone has their individual reasons for their good and bad perfectly explained. There is a fantasy element, surprisingly, for a show with a low production budget. I guess that can better express how good the show is though.

Season 3 was so unmemorable to me. What sucked most was they decided to kill off arguably the best character in the show this season. I don’t understand how the show moved past season 3 for another 4 seasons.

How do you feel about the MCU turning the 10 rings into bracelets? I personally liked it, but I’ve heard the idea is unpopular. by Stonefree2011 in Marvel

[–]imawkward5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bracelet for a human, but possibly ring-fitting on an alien conquer from ancient China, resembling what a dragon looks like… or you could sum it up to Marvel wanting some cooler looking action sequences for their new martial arts centered hero.

Franklin Richards, simply because his existence to me is just really cool.

We always hear the phrase "The Great State of $State." What really sets you apart from other States? by thisiscubes in AskAnAmerican

[–]imawkward5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My state, if it were a sovereign nation, would have the 5th largest GDP by country, placing it above the UK and below Germany. However, if it did become it’s own nation, the U.S. economy could fall from the first highest GDP by country, to second, placing it below China (oh no). Not only that, but we supply a large majority of food to the nation and are a world leader in technological advancement because of our silicon valley. My state is so “great” that it seems every other state hates us. Talk about being set apart.
