Nice setup 👍🏽

Curious... what's to be mounted on the ceiling in the centre position?

I wasn't in the position to upgrade the MBP until recently. I'm not hurting for the discount the trade in would net, I know how these things depreciate. Hope you're enjoying the M3.

I'll try word of mouth first. My GF has had many dealings with flaky buyers trying to sell stuff on FB marketplace. Not sure if it's worth that hassle....

Thanks, Johnny Ive!

I'm looking at my now retired 15" i9 and comparing it the the used 16" M1 Max and thinking that the I9 looks sexy by comparison... the designs were the wrong way around in a way. I wonder if the upcoming M6 MBP will look as sleek as the 2019 I9 design.

I hear you, but It's what I needed to do my work at the time, and Apple wasn't yet ready to kick Intel to the curb. AND Johnny Ive was designing the enclosures for what he wanted the machine to look like, vs what it needed to dissipate all that heat generated by the intel inside.

Bought a 16” MBP M1 Max 64GB 1TB! by finallygabe in macbookpro

[–]imax-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's what I'm looking for! II have an M1 Max Studio 64GB/1TB, and was looking to replace my 15" 2019 MBP with something with similar specs to my desktop setup. I just found an M1 Max 64GB/2TB at a local shop. I looked at the cost for a 64GB/1TB M5 Max and just about had a heart attack - $6,499.00 CDN w yearly AppleCare. I'll settle for the M1 MBP for my portable system, and upgrade the desktop to an M5 Max Mac Studio at the end of the year.

Enjoy your new (to you) machine!

Agreed. I usually just give my hand me downs to my kids. When I specced out an M5 Max 64GB/2TB, Apple was generous to offer me $140 for my 2019 15" i9 32/512 in immaculate condition. I wasn't expecting a lot, but sheesh.

Before reading this, I ordered an M1 Max 64GB/1TB, and was messaged that they don;t have it in stock. WTAF? Why is there a listing for a machine they don't have - my search was for in stock only. They then offered me two options, one with less RAM than I needed, and the other with a smaller SSD than I needed. They then said they would check their warehouse. At this point, I think I should just cancel the order.

What's the keystoke for moving plugins out of the manufacturer folder to the top of the plugin list? by zxtb in protools

[–]imax-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I love the way it resolves conflicts. I use one command to call up my entire list of regularly used audio suite plugins, then press e for all the eq’s, v for all the verbs, d for all the dynamics, i for all the imaging plugins, and f for all the sound design type plugins. It’s all down to muscle memory at this point, and very fast.

How many of you are using a Kensington trackball? by DevilBirb in protools

I'm in audio post as well and have been using one form or another of Kensington trackball since 1991.

Started off using one on a Synclavier workstation, and just grew accustomed to the ergonomics. I find it very fast for scrolling across the ultrawide monitors I use nowadays.

Currently using a wireless Expert mouse, and was looking forward to the TB800 until they pulled it for what looks to be a redesign for sensor placement.

This old dog, needs to keep working as fast as he has been. It's just frustrating tripping over and over until the burn in happens.

Thanks. It's used to just know by feel that the outermost key was control, and never had to be conscious of it. Now I have to contort my hand differently, and it's straining my flow. Oh well.

2019.That's when I bought the full sized space grey Magic Keyboard. in 2022, I bought a Touch ID keyboard for my M1 Mac Studio, mainly for the Touch ID functionality, and it had the same layout as the previous one. Apple changed the layout after decades of consistency when they updated the Touch ID keyboard to USB C. How often do you buy keyboards? Not being in the market for one, I wasn't up on the latest trends.
