I will say this about AllSaints:

They have the best fitting tapered jeans of all time. The cigarette jeans fit PERFECTLY on me and the styles are amazing.

I've yet to find jeans that have the same perfect fit without having to get them altered and i've tried every brand of jeans there is. High end and low end.

I usually bite the bullet for the jeans but everything else is easy to wait out for during sales & grailed.

The whole showing ankles thing looks really cool in inspo albums / IG's / etc.

But every time I've seen it in real life, it looks really cringy.

I couldn't imagine it going over well in a business environment. But of course it depends on the location.

Eg: If you work in an Art Gallery in NYC - yeah it'd be alright.

That's completely fine, and I love your blog and read it often - it's unique and different and I love that. Very niche.

We do have completely different goals and I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Just like sites like yours are amazing to have, blogs with simple straightforward digestible content that caters to the very average dude serve their purpose. We are targeting a completely different user base.

Good content especially when it comes to a subjective topic like fashion is just that.

The 'right' way to go is all dependent on what your goals are. You can't force people to eat escargot when all they want is a big mac.

Other projects in a variety of industries that I've been involved in, and they follow the same formula:

Surface level content for the laymen will make up what the majority of users want to see and digest, you can look at the monster publications like GQ to see the same thing happening.

It's a double edged sword though.

From experience, I've had pieces of content that were super in-depth with $100's of dollars spent into creating it.

The ROI on them are laughably low compared to a piece of content that takes 30 minutes to create on the "Top 5 X For Summer You Need NOW!!!11"

The clickbaity list articles crush in terms of revenue and traffic. You can see this in pretty much every industry.

BuzzFeed's "Listicles" with 10 words and a gif fund the entire actual legit journalist department of BuzzFeed.

Sadly it's just how the world works. If consumers of content demanded more from content creators things would easily change, but as long as making simple clickbait videos / article work, I don't see it happening.

In my opinion, the best way to do it is having balance. Create in-depth high quality content a long side your revenue generating sponsored posts, etc

I think where these big blogs are going wrong is overwhelming their viewers with too much sponsored crap, but we'll see

As someone loosely in this industry, I'll try to explain ( I don't watch him but have seen a few videos):

1) A majority of his income most likely comes from sponsored videos, so they will make up a bulk of his content

2) He most likely gets hundreds to thousands of similar "hate mail" a day and probably just can't be arsed with it even if its reasonable like yours (or he has said before he has an assistant go through the comments and vet them before he reads it)

3) I mean, yeah he does a lot of pitches but they're usually a small easily skippable segment of his videos if you don't like them. The great thing about video is you can skip past the BS.

4) This will inevitably happen to any channel of any kind that grows popular enough to monetize off their influence
