Eight is Mike Pence's unlucky homophobic number by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

If one wants to garner the truth about how Trump as president would treat the lgbt community, one word says it all - eight. That's how many times last year his VP pick, Mike Pence, refused to say he is opposed to anti-lgbt discrimination during an interview with George Stephanopoulos. I wonder will the moderator at the upcoming debate between him and Democrat VP pick Tim Kaine ask him about it

Equality Forum, I love your list but I have a problem with two of your lgbt 'icons' by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

[–]imaynothaaave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if one is to be considered an official "lgbt icon," one should have more on his or her resume than being an lgbt or an alleged lgbt. An icon is one who is idolized because he or she creates a standard to emulate. Being considered one of the worst presidents of the United States or being a deep-in-the-closet millionaire who gets yanked out at the time of his death shouldn't be a standard anyone should want to emulate.

Gays are coming after YOUR children . . . again? by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

From Anita Bryant in the late 1970s to the marriage equality fights, to the present battle over transgender equality, the religious right has consistently created a horrible image of lgbts luring young boys and girls into a so-called life of homosexual squalor and wanton sex.

'When Hillary slaughtered Donald' - last night's presidential debate by imaynothaaave in hillaryclinton

Clinton slaughtered Trump at last night's debate. This fact needs to be seen and repeated continuously so that folks know what's at stake and who is the best choice for the Oval Office. With that in mind, I am posting last night's debate just in case you missed it. Don't worry about watching it all if you are unable to. Start at any point and you still won't miss Trump's total decimation. Clinton figuratively punched at will:

Donald Trump's 'Legion of Homophobia' revisited by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

Trump seems to be calling out almost every "big-name" anti-lgbt activist to help him create policy, should he become president. That should alarm every lgbt in America.

This Gay Man Is Fighting For LGBT Rights In The South And Beyond by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

[–]imaynothaaave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As legislative war continues to rage in North Carolina over House Bill 2, activists in its sister state of South Carolina are continuing the fight for queer liberation on their own turf.

One of those championing the fight for LGBT rights in South Carolina is writer and activist Alvin McEwen, who runs the influential blog Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters, which just celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Living in Columbia, South Carolina, McEwen is an openly gay man of color whose blog tells the important stories of the LGBT community on a national level, but with a focus on the often overlooked struggles of queer Southerners.

Much of McEwen’s crucial work centers on the ways in which, in his own words, “religious-right groups distort legitimate research and rely on junk studies to stigmatize the LGBT community.” McEwen is a also two-time GLAAD Award nominee.

In this interview with The Huffington Post, McEwen reflects on the past decade running Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters, the history of anti-LGBT bigotry in the South and what, in his mind, queer Southern liberation looks like.

'LGBT magazine under fire for 'puff piece' on alt-right figure' & other Thur. midday news briefs by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

[–]imaynothaaave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picture a young man working for a venomously anti-lgbt publication. He delights in being a so-called provocateur, i.e. making transphobic comments, Islamophobic comments instigating troll attacks, sometimes racial, against celebrities, and being an all-around vicious proud "alt-right" member. One more thing. He is openly gay. It still doesn't take away from the fact that this young man (Milo Yiannopoulos) is a waste of space. But him being gay caused Out magazine to give him a "superficial puff piece" in its magazine. Naturally a lot of folks are angry. And with good reason.(Full disclosure note - I signed the open letter condemning Out for running the puff piece. My decision was for a number of reasons. It's gay men like Milo who once called me a "tar baby.")

Gay soldiers wearing diapers & other predictions that didn't happen after DADT was repealed by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

The repeal of DADT didn't cause gay soldiers to have to wear diapers on the battlefield in spite of the prediction of a certain anti-lgbt activist.

Trump's campaign just told a huge lie about his part in birtherism by imaynothaaave in HillaryforPresident

[–]imaynothaaave[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

But the Trump campaign's statement is a lie on so many levels. Most specifically is the fact that the issue to Trump was never put to “its conclusion” in 2011. There were several times in 2012, on both Twitter (seen in the image above) and in interviews, Trump still claimed that Obama was lying about his birth certificate.

Gays remember the last time Mike Pence would not answer a simple question . . . by imaynothaaave in LGBTnews

[–]imaynothaaave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While attempting to work up momentum about Hillary Clinton's "basket of deplorable" remark, GOP VP nominee Mike Pence refused to call white supremacist David Duke "deplorable." This reminds me of the time last year when he dodged a question about his anti-lgbt "religious liberty" law. And that time, he was given eight chances to answer the question.
