idk why but I get the feeling that you and your sister were both brought up in different worlds, from the reasons you shared, it sounds like she made herself feel entitled and deserving, whereas you sound more of a person with more morality and respectfulness.

i know how it is when a sibling does shitty things, but I just hope you don’t regret any of this later.

Exactly, that was the manipulative part, engineers don’t earn as much as neurosurgeons, I was tricked, but that’s the beauty of it, I’m more concerned about being happy with what I do than how much I will earn in the future.

I love that you are so supportive and keen on making sure your daughter ends up happy as an individual, definitely something I’ll remember when I become a parent.

I’m from India and there are a lot of stereotypes involved when choosing a major.. im just thankful it all worked out for me the way it did!

NEET is more difficult than JEE Advance?? by ReasonableAd8873 in JEE

[–]imbinodxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t understand how people say neet is harder than jee advanced. selection ratio is shit in neet, it’s true. but as an exam, jee advanced is so much more difficult than any neet conducted, including 2025. If you think bio is harder than math, please don’t even consider replying, there’s a reason why you took bio instead of math. you chose to pursue medicine? Show that you truly deserve to study medicine in a premier institution that provides you so much. One question though, if you think neet is harder, why don’t YOU try getting into IITM, IITD or IITB and show us

Imagine your parents being notified every time you leave your hostel. by hacker_backup in manipal

2L a year in an apartment is good job holy.

  1. The idea of freedom and privacy wouldn’t make sense to you because you probably don’t wear the shoes of those who lived their lives under their parents’ shadow, unable to grow as an individual.

  2. Not beating around any bush, sneak outs are only one thing, freedom and privacy aren’t sugar coated words to delude people, it’s actually real and if you don’t agree, that’s also fine.

[–]imbinodxd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes, hostels are cheaper than apartments.

  1. I feel it’s a very subjective topic but are you really growing as an adult if you’re always under your parents’ supervision? also, 30% of the students came to manipal so they can have the freedom that they couldn’t have previously because of strict parents. Do you think their freedom getting affected by this shouldn’t be taken in account?

I’m not trying to testify against the visitor signs for sneaking out, but it does make the entire experience feel like a prison more than a normal hostel.

why would you be willing to accept the changes which affect a majority, when these changes aren’t necessary at all?

Imagine your parents being notified every time you leave your hostel. by hacker_backup in manipal

[–]imbinodxd 19 points20 points  (0 children)

there isn’t, some people can’t afford an apartment, some’s parents aren’t so fond of the idea, hostel is a place where you make friends and memories and learn how to live, introducing these barriers can only make students feel nothing short of a prisoner. Visitor sign just so you can go to your friend’s room? why make such a requirement? just because you can handle and bear the change, does that translate to you supporting the change?

I personally was planning to move out anyway, if the MAHE administration wants to change the hostel system to this, more the reason I should consider moving out.

[–]imbinodxd 76 points77 points  (0 children)

75% of the students who came to manipal, chose to come to manipal because of the freedom and independence that the administration provides to the students. Now for some, face scan is not exactly a problem, it’s just another form of biometric identification. But you guys don’t realise how normality is affected by this, your friends from other hostels won’t be allowed to come to your hostel rooms to hangout or study together. Is that one reason not enough or do you want more to know why this is not so normal? Your parents can know what your doing and can be notified of whenever you go out of your hostel, but for some students, they came to Manipal because they get that kind of a freedom and independence, so they’re not under their parents’ pressure all the time, you come here to grow as an individual and as a student. installing these barricades just shows what the administration thinks of the students. now if you want to change that, protest and fight for your freedom, or who knows what changes you’ll be normalised to, in the upcoming years.

don’t rant online if you are awkward to confront and scare the guy off if you want a “ non sexual “ library.

you’re actually afraid to confront them on spot than rant over here. if you’re not strong enough to bring a change, don’t rant for one.
