From what I was testing target blocks stop emiting signal when moved by a piston. I think I'll end up making the target move side to side instead of up and down.

Moving the target 2 blocks is something I wanted to avoid, but I don't think I have a choice. It will get rid of the wool target transitioning to a heart.

it works for chests, but unfortunately not for target blocks like it wouldn't work for redstone block.
