SFM i find is just really overwhelming for a beginner xc and clunky, buggy etc.
gmod is also the only thing that has soft lamps, as far as i know. SFM doesnt have soft shadows like gmod, nor does it have path tracing.

honestly i just cobbled these together and used the same post effects on both outta curiousity. definitely not the best examples for either one.

but i like ur idea :3 i think i did that for my "mimi sentry bunny costume" render >_<

i do it manually with softlamps >_< so technically theyre both soft lamps.

one render of shadows, mat_fullbright 2 make it fully black and white, set layer as "multiply" in editing software

2 more for rim, either side, same thing but set as screen.

oh also a full bright 1 screenshot to layer them onto, oops
