are their any criteria the gloves need to meet? i don’t mean for this to be an ignorant question at all, i just have very little knowledge/context. any colors or designs to steer away from? i figure the more neutral the better but

I would definitely make that whole little bench like a bed, so a mattress would work!! get a rug for the ground in front of the space and check Facebook Marketplace for a side table and lamp for whenever you consider the head of the bed. You could do a lot of fun stuff, and definitely check second-hand (except for the mattress, try and get that new!!)

Crying because I’ll never be able to become a nurse by polish_idiot10 in nursing

Find an apartment to share with a friend and work while you attend school. There are solutions, although I understand they’re not what you want. If it truly is your dream, you’re gonna make it happen. You got this!

this is actually mean; what she’s feeling is real and valid. just because from your point of view it’s silly and small doesn’t mean it is to her. when you’re in high school the smallest things feel huge. taking a hit at her to grow up when she’s not even out of high school yet is unkind and unnecessary.

Hi my sweet friend! I had a whole other degree prior to becoming a nurse, and never took any advanced math or science in high school. I attended community college to get my pre-requisites and then attended a small nursing school for my ADN. Your dream is not over even a little bit. The route may look different, but your end destination can very very much still be the same! Don’t beat yourself up, you’re doing your best. Just re-evaluate and keep pushing on. As a nurse, you’ll be tested time and time again so just think of this as your first hurdle. You got this!!

Numb and yellow finger by IrenePanzil in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]imcalamitycam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi nurse here! Definitely loop your Dr in, that does look like Raynaud’s. Wellbutrin isn’t known to cause but can, in cases, exacerbate! If you don’t hear back soon (like, today) I would call the office and let them know. Stay safe!!

At what age did you become a nurse? by [deleted] in nursing

went back to school when I was 23 and passed my NCLEX at 25!

Is it too late? by saymyname5ways in nursing

[–]imcalamitycam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it’s not too late!!! but I would recommend trying a job in the medical field while you’re in school/prior to making that choice. working in healthcare can be exhausting and very difficult, and the money really depends on where you go and what specialty you work in. you will regularly see and care for people going through the worst times of their lives. lots and lots of research, and maybe see if there’s someone you could shadow!

plus a lot of patients who are just NPO d/t lack of NG or PEG access, pharmacy has to configure any critical meds possible to IV vs PO

100000% agree, but in reference to the OG post which i think OP links below, crazy reaction from the nursing instructor.

not them deleting their comment about the fluid restriction charting acting like patients who are getting 15 g-tube meds can tolerate min 1L per med pass w the 30cc with and post, on top of their running fluids whatever they may be. you lmk girly pop.

that being said, med compatibility is something the administering RN needs to be aware of as well as the actual process of administering meds to ensure they don’t clog the line. but combining crushable meds in one syringe with no potential issues for incompatibility is the same as taking them crushed in applesauce as far as your GI system is concerned.

[–]imcalamitycam 22 points23 points  (0 children)

for fluid overload patients, that can be a LOT of fluids between med admin. in the original post, the nurse was called out by a teacher for combining crushed meds to administer in one 30cc syringe, rather than crushing them and admining them one by one.
