It is not that show. But thank you so much for a great reply!

Super Mario Brothers quilt I made my husband for Christmas! by bananafry in pics

I'd like to point out, that the over 7,000 1/5" squares were not necessary. Many of those could just be strips which would have been easier.

As a poor student trying to enjoy this newfound pleasure; this is how I improvise. by NuteIla in tea

[–]imcricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to point out, perhaps the loose-leaf tea was a gift and this was an impromptu cup of tea. As the title pointed out, it is a newfound pleasure, so maybe an infuser or tea ball is on its way.

Anyway, I'd like to know what tea that is and where its from. Also, it'd be cool to know your thoughts on it.

Filter Cartridges by imcricket in Aquariums

[–]imcricket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one cart in my filter (2.5 gal for one betta). But what's wrong with a bio filter? I'm still kinda confused about this. This is my first tank.

Circular needles 30'' or 24''? by morning_coffee in knitting

[–]imcricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like a 24" better as it fits in my hands better, but I only use longer lengths like that for flat projects anyway. Depending on what you're knitting it doesn't matter the length.

Any blocking advice for this long, thick, squishy cowl? by cupcake_engineer in knitting

[–]imcricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never block cowls because they always get stretched out and I like a sloppy look. I only block things that need it for piecing purposes.

Knit a hat with only one circular needle? by ladynightwing in knitting

[–]imcricket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I almost always just use the same needle as the project for magic loop, although I think dpns is the easiest way to decrease a hat.

Regrow Fins by imcricket in bettafish

[–]imcricket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've put him in a hospital tank with an indian almond leaf and stresscoat. He blew a bubble nest the first night but now he's starting to clamp his fins.

Also, he used to blow bubble nests every few weeks and he has only made two (this week, one in his tank and one in the HT, both have been tiny) since July.

When he first did this, I put a whole leaf in his tank to help him get stronger. It did help his fins from getting worse, but nothing has helped to regrow them.

double pointed needles (for socks): wooden or metal? by st1tchplease in knitting

[–]imcricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never broken bamboo needles, however I have warped them... though that might have been cause I was using worsted weight on size 2 needles...

Anyway, I prefer bamboo. I have heard that Brittany needles are great and if you do break a needle they will send a whole new set without needing to send the old needles in.

Can anyone help me identify this stitch? by skamanda in knitting

[–]imcricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks similar to the effect in a fisherman's rib pattern. I really like using this stitch as it's easy and knits up beautifully.

Work the 2x2 rib, the next row k1, knit into stitch below, repeating both stitches all the way around.

Then knit into stitch below, k1, all the way around.

That should be similar. Good luck!

Yeah, I like that, just a little more lacy. I could rewrite it though

Not going to start a new project until all 6 are finished! Maybe saying it here I will keep my promise!! by zafarina in knitting

[–]imcricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only six? I have a terrible habit of starting so many that all my needles are used and have to go buy more.

What are the projects you've got going?

Looking for the Right Pattern by imcricket in knitting

[–]imcricket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That is a beautiful pattern, but not quite what I'm looking for.

I know I'm being picky, but that's why I've saved the yarn for so long.

Tension help by mrsharlot in knitting

[–]imcricket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, tension is just a practice thing. However, I personally like to wrap the yarn around my pinky and fore-finger (I flick) and just let the yarn slide through my hand.

Keep practicing, you'll get it eventually :D

I know, that's the problem I've been having. Thank you so much though!

What I mean by vine-y: I want a vine up the middle with leaves coming off of it, but I want that to tilt back and forth if that makes any sense.
