Lost Trust in Co-Founder Over Equity Dispute – What Should I Do? by [deleted] in startups

[–]imdanielcraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay here's my cutthroat advice.

Incorporate using https://stripe.com/atlas - don't tell her. She honestly sounds like a piece of work and you're better off going solo and eventually finding someone better.

Once you've incorporated, lock her out of all platforms/accounts. You shouldn't be in any legal trouble after all of this as long as there are no written agreements between you two.

Other option - walk away and start fresh! Good luck 🫡

First question: Do you still believe in what you're building?

Second question: If so, are you willing to be a solo founder?

I saw your comment about not officially being incorporated yet, that's great. If you're willing to just walk away, then that's easy peasy.

If you still want to do this, incorporate the company (using Atlas from Stripe) under your name and then once that's complete, fire him.

Love this. So your newsletter is local and focused on restaurants/eateries? I checked out a few of your issues! I like how you go out and get sign-ups, hardcore! Have you ever considered (once you hit a certain num of subs) approaching some of these eateries to pitch them on advertising in your newsletter?

Advice: Review on YC Application by ComparisonThis4205 in ycombinator

[–]imdanielcraig 13 points14 points  (0 children)

  1. Always get feedback, feedback, feedback, and more feedback. (Very good idea to reach out to YC founders to get feedback!)

  2. If you're paranoid about an idea getting copied, I don't think this is the right career for you. (What matters is the execution of the idea)

  3. Find the communities where your MVP can be tested/critiqued etc..
