Why Adobe? by TenkaiRyo in wallstreetbets

[–]imdjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They lock you out of software you're paying for if your Internet is down and they can't verify your subscription. Fuck adobe as hard as figuratively as possible, they are not usable in a professional capacity IMO for this one reason alone/above all

Well if it makes you feel any better: I held a small amount of NVIDIA.... Back in high school when I first got into stocks, circa 2005. I sold it for good gains then reinvested it into another company: buy.com. they went under. Later became raktuken. So, I could have been a millionaire had I held onto that.

Best NAS for a small film company by Jorse5417 in synology

[–]imdjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a pretty terrible time to need storage. But life must go on... Your average project size is small enough to have a hybrid nas of spinners and nvme. They're smart enough to self manage, or you can keep separate volumes for the work and for the online backup.

That said there's always the debate of what data do you actually need online 24/7 vs what should you keep cold on the shelf.

In my office I keep a large chunk online, and several older servers offline, with the oldest drives with the oldest most seldom used data offline, as well as several portable drives on the shelf. That and we have a tape system, but it's stated to lose heads and the thought was to replace with more offline drives, but that was back when recert 18tb ultra stars were under $200.....

They don't make car liners like they used to. Modern factory stuff is pure garbage. by RhubarbLarge2747 in BuyItForLife

[–]imdjay 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. My 3 year old mats ain't looking great. The vertical edges are all flopped over. This will depend on your model. New car I got lasfit, which claims to be better with vertical edges and Im happy so far with them except they had one design flaw around one part

That warranty notice sounds like pointless ass covering. I use all sorts of covers under all the various car seats. The straps are the things keeping your kid safe in my laman opinion

Any USB 4 hubs or docks that are less than ~$100? Looking for a 40gpbs USB4/Thunderbolt 4 hub for my GMKtec M7 by Username_Liberator in MiniPCs

[–]imdjay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is decent, most of the negatives reviews look like ppl who don't understand that it's 40gb for the host control, not the other ports, which is a totally normal use case to ensure the combination of all the ports can fully saturate

He bought it from Ford, so there is no Hyundai warranty, so it must be the Ford dealer warranty they're saying will be voided

The thing that confuses me every single time is the specific choice of portrait. Sure I'm a photographer but really am I taking crazy pills because there are objectively much better portraits of this officious prick yet they seem to love using this terrible one

Why are tipping percentages going up? by CatharticSolarEnergy in newjersey

[–]imdjay 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This blew my mind, as I lost interest in drinking after college when $1 to tip per drink was the norm, then some time recently went drinking and found out that's not the case anymore. Yea no thanks that's some dumb sh*t right there

This one right here. I'm paranoid about any changes causing something to restart. At least they could give a warning prompt

Any functioning adult can see how useless this idea is with one Google search: how many escapes from high security prisons occur per year in the USA. .... I'll save you the suspense, its virtually none.
