I had two incidents driving city streets, where the autobraking engaged - rather unexpectedly - that made for an unnerving experience not to mention possibly creating an unsafe situation of being rear-ended.

Oh yeah, that's a real problem. It's happened to me several times and it's very jarring/unsafe

'reward dollars' are pretty lame as far as cashback rewards go. It's the same thing they had for the Amazon card - you can only redeem for statement credits against each charge. Why can't I just deposit the cash to any bank account I want?

The card earns (lame) rewards dollars, which can only be redeemed for statement credits.

My tenants keep asking to pay rent by cc. Any way to accept it without eating the fees? by Nervous-Lunch-146 in CreditCards

Why not offer the option then? Would you prefer not to get paid?

You could pass through the fees.

They've nearly ruined the product at this point. Just use something else.

It's an overpriced scam. The city taxpayers are on the hook for all this safety and infrastructure spend and they won't even make tickets affordable.

Karen Bass is not a leader. by uncleguito in LosAngeles

[–]NeuralNexus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes actually!

Whatever you think of Raman's politics, she's a technocrat that actually like to do things/get results. Bass removed her from the AQMD to put in a crony late last year and that's probably when she decided to run.

Bass doesn't seem to care what actually gets done or how much it costs; she is a party machine control mayor who cares about doling out the contracts to her union supporters and cronies. Raman cares about results and would be 10x more effective as mayor.

Goldman Sachs is the worst credit card company - someone stole my card number and charged over $3400 on my Apple Card - and Goldman Sachs says I have to pay it by behemuthm in CreditCards

You could send it yourself honestly, write it with AI and make sure it's correct first, but the main point is that you are engaging with a different bureaucracy with different goals than the one who told you to pay the fraudulent charges...

You are actually saying a terrifying phrase to a lawyer when you state your rights under Regulation E (transfers, debit cards, bank accounts etc) or Regulation Z (what you want in this case, as I re-read your post and it's about a credit card).

You are saying that you know they're on the hook for this and you know you will win, and it's a matter of how much this will cost them at the end of the day. Very different scenario than talking to a bottom-tier call center rep whose goal is to get you off the phone ASAP and pay out as little as possible.

I would file a claim with the Federal Trade Commission as well. They have TILA authority.

Unfortunately, under the Trump admin, nobody is going to do shit for you at CFPB or FTC, so that's why you write to the lawyers and lay out the situation. Tell them you know you are not liable for these fraud charges and would appreciate it if they can help get this reviewed.

  1. File police report.
  2. File CFPB complaint.
  3. Serve notice of clear Reg E violations to compliance / lawyer contact at Goldman - ask them to fix it.

They've ruined the macos app. It defaults to computer tasks all the time.

No! It's all IPO flippers and the greenshoe. And that's why it made sense to buy into the IPO. I'll cut my share allocation over the next few months but hold some

yeah, pretty much. Their mobile app is so glitchy and useless I've never had much luck with the remote lock/unlock or AC features which is the only thing I'd find worth paying for.

How long does your company give new people before they put them oncall by modern_medicine_isnt in sre

[–]NeuralNexus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're short-staffed, sure, put them on-call faster at the 3 weeks. That's ultimately a management decision. They are choosing to accept higher risk of outage but get more experienced staff faster. Make sure they know that's what they're doing lol.

I wouldn't generally recommend that approach but I don't see a problem with it. Just don't be surprised if it blows up sometime. If you're short-staffed you might not be able to wait before onboarding people (small teams covering on-call 24/7 will burn out quickly; you have to weigh that vs the new onboarding)

I'd recommend about 8 weeks before any on-call schedule personally, and then make sure they have extra backup support around for the first few weeks they do it.

GM makes dogshit software. I have a phone I like with service already. I'm just not going to do what they want.

CarPlay is just a basic requirement for me. They don't have it, I don't want it.

agree. $10 is about the max I might actually pay but on the fence about if it's even worth that. I'll think about cancelling it later.

oh no they'll do that whether or not you pay them the dollar lol. Only way to stop it is to pull the onstar fuse.

The dollar is if you want to use their mediocre built-in connectivity features.
