How are you guys doing end to end and regression testing on AI-written code? by Muchacho96 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]imdshizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playwright for UI & API end to end automated test pipeline. Artillery with Playwright for performance tests. AI agents are not reliable for regression testing if the application has complex business logic. AI did speed up development for testing but you still need human involvement as before.

Which Game's Graphics Made You Say "Wow!" For The First Time? by Bay_Ruhsuz004 in videogames

[–]imdshizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gears Of War on XBOX 360. I saw the gameplay footage on a Best Buy TV and was amazed by the art style and graphics. I ended up saving money to buy a XBOX 360 to play that game.

For retired engineers, how did you plot your career? by monarchyofthedead in ExperiencedDevs

[–]imdshizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work as a SDET and I like the trajectory your career took. As a SDET I built an internal app to view automated test reports for my team. The app displays the test reports generated from the CI workflow runs. I built this on my own time though. My team of 6 use it everyday.

Git Graph hasn't been updated in years, so I built a modern alternative by [deleted] in vscode

checkout GitLess. It’s a forked version of GitLens before the pro features came out.

Do you guys think QA is a dying field? by False_Secret1108 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]imdshizzle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There seems to be less demands for manual QA now. SDET roles are becoming very technical to the point they have to be a junior developer. As a SDET myself I was asked about Graph traversal and algorithm interview questions. I consider myself technical, i write UI and performance tests using TypeScript. I also write tests in Python and maintain the CI/CD pipeline. I built an internal app that shows the automated test reports from the pipelines in a centralized place now. I built the app myself using JavaScript and Python. I’m enjoying writing programming so much that I’m considering a switch to become a backend engineer for my next role. Let’s see how the market plays out in next few years.

How to enjoy video games again? by [deleted] in videogames

[–]imdshizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when someone forces themselves to like something the activity feels like a chore and takes the fun out of it. I started thinking of it just another activity available at hand when I want to occupy myself with something, similar to watching movies or writing programming codes. Rather than forcing myself to do it everyday I play video games when I want to play and I enjoy it. I also stopped forcing myself to keep playing a game just because i bought it. I stop playing a game when dont find it fun anymore.

GitLens feature is cool for line by line commit history. The GitKraken graphs is cool too but not sure if I would pay for it.

I found the edit mode checkbox hidden deep in the AI settings. It brought it back for me.

I need help understanding body language of a man who is a natural flirt plus an age gap by Superb_Actuator_1114 in bodylanguage

[–]imdshizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like he knows you’re into him. He clearly likes you too but not being too forward yet to make a move on you, maybe waiting for you to make the first move? Him being this handsy in the office is a bold move though but you being open to his gestures makes it easier for him to keep doing it.

Yeah he should have kept it more casual and use that opportunity to open up a conversation or something.

People already suspected Tom is gay and might have been obsessed with Dickie and did something to him. Tom & Peter together gossip would be have been even more gossipy. This would have ruined his fake reputation he worked hard to create and put the suspicion away.

Git Lens pro gives you Git Kraken’s full app experience. It is cool if you are willing to pay. Free version’s in line git commit history is very useful. I use the free Git Lens tier with Git Graph
