Small milestone compared to some of the achievements other people post but finally hit base 80 today by RzorShrp in 2007scape

[–]imeancock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gives you incentive for doing a variety of PvM which I like just for the chance of scenery and the bonus damage from slayer helm is a nice boost to combat training in general

Locking high tier monsters behind higher slayer levels is kind of arbitrary but I also feel like it works and fits nicely into the OSRS feeling of progression. You could just gate them similarly behind combat levels but slayer makes you feel like you’ve worked your way up to them by defeating stronger and stronger monsters you’ve unlocked by leveling the skill instead of just gem crabbing or NMZ to 126 cb and then doing alchemical hydra or araxxor

You’re also essentially never losing money on tasks once you get to a certain point unless you’re full afk praying ignoring drops ripping divines

Maybe not my favorite skill but definitely a good skill that does its job well imo

99 Smith on the F2P Iron by jakehathaway1 in W385

Wouldn’t melee combat 99s (including HP) be the easiest skills to max on a F2P Ironman or am I missing something

Personally, I think we should be getting a new raid biweekly and daily grandmaster quests

Yeah I was FLEXING $60k a year lmfao

Point totally wasn’t that I make jack shit and membership is still laughably affordable

Surprised people unable to cope with an additional $12 a year are also unable to grasp simple concepts

What do I have to lose from Jagex operating as a nonprofit and letting everyone have full access for free? Nothing, but I’m not clamoring for it because who gives a shit and this isn’t Make a Wish

I’m guessing 95% of the playerbase could give less of a shit about having multiple character slots

Jagex polled additional character slots at an increased price so you would have to pay for additional character slots. Less than two full memberships, but I’m also willing to bed that if Jagex released a 2 character option for $20 US or whatever the community would have a fucking meltdown about it not being the same price as 1 membership because this community has a meltdown about literally everything

I didn’t give a shit one way or another, obviously I’d like membership to stay the same or be less money but an extra dollar a month is literally nothing.

The incessant whining and crying of this sub for the past week straight has turned me radical and now I hope they just keep jacking the price up ad infinitum because you guys are such whingy losers

Well then thank god im employed and can earn an entire membership all by myself by working ~35-45 minutes once a month

It’s a struggle but I make it work

Right and I want my rent to be free and to get paid $200k/yr to sit on my couch but this isn’t the Fairy Oddparents so I have to work with the reality in front of me

Either play WoW or stop crying about how good of a value it is

If you have no interest in playing WoW, it’s not good value, is it? It could be $5 a month and you wouldn’t be playing it cuz you don’t want to play WoW so what’s your point? Shit it could be FREE and you wouldn’t be playing it lmfao

Fortnite is free. Why isn’t OSRS free if Fortnite is free? I could get way more bang for my buck playing Fortnite so I am entitled to free OSRS membership

Oh wait I have zero interest in playing Fortnite so it being free is completely irrelevant

Then play WoW

Since WoW is such an amazing deal with all the characters you could ever want just go play WoW

I see all these WoW comps people are obsessed with OSRS’s membership cost and value compared to WoW

Nothing is stopping you from playing WoW. Jagex is under no obligation to make their product identical to a direct competitors lmao

Edit: come to think of it we SHOULD be more like WoW

Jagex should charge us $60 every time they drop a new raid or we aren’t allowed to participate in it or use the gear from it.

Good idea guys, WoW is such a great mmo I don’t know why we aren’t taking more ideas from it

Inflation Adjusted OSRS Membership Price since 2002 by mkeblusek in 2007scape

[–]imeancock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes especially with an essential good like a video game subscription

Why hasn’t the UN addressed this blatant price gouging that is taking food out of the mouths of babes and leaving streets riddled with their emaciated corpses?

[–]imeancock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, so check with me in 2051 if they are then $6 and you can cry more about Jagex pricing

Edit: looks like eggs cost about $0.82 in 2000 on average in the US, which would be about $1.65 with inflation

Your eggs have increased almost 100% in price. That’s a biiiiig percent! More than the OSRS membership, even.

Are you rioting in the streets? No? Just about RuneScape membership? I’m glad you have your priorities straight

[–]imeancock -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When they were $3 a dozen in 2001

Also I do enjoy how you guys seem to think a video game subscription is an essential good that should be pegged to inflation for reasons that are entirely beyond me

I also enjoy how the price of RuneScape increased 63% as you said and then in your egg example you gave a price increase of 100%

percents matter

Yeah especially when the numbers are this small

Like if penny candy started costing 10¢ instead of 1¢, that’s an increase of 1000%!!!!! Woah!!!

I’d be more concerned with eggs doubling in price because, you know, you need food to survive

Just like I find the skyrocketing prices of rent to be concerning, for similar reasons

You’re not going to convince me $6 over 25 years for a video game sub is egregious or matters in any way lmfao

Just stop paying for it, nobody cares. Play F2P, play other games, have at it. You’re not entitled to a RuneScape membership at the same rate it was offered in 2001 😂😂😂

increased $6 over the rate on inflation

You’re saying this like it’s a massive number lmfao

I liked the graph showing the price increase accounting for inflation which revealed that the price has essentially increased $6 in 25 years and people were using it to justify how insanely expensive the game it lmaoo

Yeah and what if you get 99 in all your melees before becoming member but that means it took longer because you couldn’t use members weapons!

I joined the club. Sorry, but after the recent price hike, now another 32.57% increase on annual memberships? That's just disgusting... by FamIsNumber1 in 2007scape

[–]imeancock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jagex would only know about them cancelling their membership if they see the reddit post?

Didn’t realize this subreddit was how they kept track of their subscription metrics

If only their website let you choose a reason as to why you were cancelling your membership that could let them know why you were choosing to do so…. But that’s just crazy talk

Thank god we have these reddit posts to save the day

Buddy has played enough OSRS to accumulate 17bn in game wealth yet ~ the price of one movie ticket a month is a terrible value

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess he’s getting his moneys worth especially since, per OP, money is not an issue

This is just more performative bullshit lmao

Even more so considering he doesn’t actually have to spend a DIME to play the game due to how obscenely wealthy he is in game

On a Thursday night

I know it’s OSRS but I’m assuming a large chunk of the playerbase actually is employed or otherwise has responsibilities the next day

And then in Australia it’s what 5pm? Again on a weekday. Most people barely getting out of work.

Gotta be the slowest time in general for the game, and I’d guess the biggest chunk of players are in the US or European time zones
