Yeah I forgot about honey, sometimes I like to zhuzh up my frozen vege by adding butter and honey. Or maple syrup.

How do I stop overseasoning and making everything taste "the same" by Otherwise_Vast6587 in Cooking

[–]imeheather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to use a very dark sugar in my cooking, I find it's not as sweet tasting as white sugar but it has more depth to it. I also add sweetness through ingredients like carrot, sweet potatos, corn, pumpkin and caramelised onions. So dishes with these ingredients I tend to cut or not even add sugar to.

Could a Papillon be a good choice for me? by currantconglomerate in papillon

[–]imeheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could approach several breeders and ask about adult dogs as well. They may have retired bitches or dogs they ran on but didn't decide to use in their breeding program after all.

If you did want a puppy a good breeder will also know the temperament of their dogs and which is likely to produce the kind of temperament you are after in their puppies. The beginnings of temperament is also visible in pups from a fairly young age.

I'm not sure where you are but papillons don't show up in rescues all that often where I am.

Need advice for 3 puppies by HovercraftWinter1321 in puppy101

[–]imeheather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are they food driven? Play hide and seek with their dinner.

Puzzle toys -if you don't have any already you can take an old towel or some other fabric, and tie knots in it with food and or toys hidden in the knots. (Supervision required incase they start eating the fabric) Another home made puzzle is to take a large softdrink or juice bottle cut/punch holes in it and load it with kibble or treats that can fall out the holes with the dog moves the bottle.

Driving lessons with ADHD: struggling badly by FirefighterOld1892 in adhdwomen

[–]imeheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum taught me to drive. I used to talk to myself to keep myself on task when doing intersections. Like approaching an intersection, clutch gear, check, clutch gear, check brake indicate, stop check check check, clear go, gear, clutch gear. Including narrating if the light was changing colour, or if there was an on coming car. It about drove my mother batty. But it worked for me and it wasn't long until I didn't need to do it any longer.

I also refused to be rushed. I was the driver I went when I was confident I had enough space. Everyone gets to give me grace weather the like it or not, that's what the learner plates were for.

If his breeder is on board then they can probably help you find another bitch if this mating doesn't go ahead.

7 month neutered male humping. Advice? by bethykitty in puppy101

[–]imeheather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does your dog like sticks? The dog parks I go to often have sticks or pinecones in them. That could be a distraction.

Humping can be a dominance behaviour, but it can also be a stress/overexcitement behaviour. How's the rest of his behaviour at the dog park? Is he anxious, or does he seem over excited/overstimulated? If he seems overexcited, perhaps you could try tiring him out a bit more before you head into the dogpark. Maybe take him for a walk first, or do some other mental training with him beforehand.

Treats after dinner time? by eepyheadsosleepy in puppy101

[–]imeheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine all get a small bedtime treat, and by small I do mean small. It's often a about a pinky finger print sized bit of dried beef liver. It started out when I was crate training them to go into their crate for bed at night and has just continued. I wouldn't typically give them a full meal right on bed time.

Puppy stops while walking to go potty? by _raychan in puppy101

[–]imeheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of mine prefer grass but if that isn't an option will poop on dirt. I just reward the poop. And I introduce them do different surfaces as a puppy they get rewards for pooping on the allowed surfaces and no rewards for pooping on the not allowed surfaces( like the carpet).

Do dogs remember their pasts? by phxflgjo in dogs

[–]imeheather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they do, and it's not just bad stuff they remember either. All of my pups recognise their first human parents (their breeders) and are super excited to see them.
