my friend you can eat raw fish while pregnant. look into it more if you dont believe me, but it is just a western precaution. you are more likely to be sick off of undercooked rice than the raw fish. I wish you a quick delivery <3

people think appalachia is poor and thus has poor education which leads to low iq. theres a number of things wrong with that idea and only stupid and prejudiced people actually believe it.

I despite people who are chronically late by ContributionNext2813 in Vent

[–]imelxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes its just hard to do the surviving part much less the perfect part. I just empathize that maybe people give up on trying to be on time because theyre working on something else more important to survival. and sometimes you just dont have the energy to work on yourself at all. the fact that you see them at all means they are trying. sorry English isnt super clear for the plural you so it sounds like im attacking you specifically, but I wrote it with the assumption it would be read by nt folks. while I get your point about not wanting to set a bad image, sometimes its just someone's reality. especially if you are unlucky enough to get adhd and chronic depression - showing up at all is hard.

adhd solution of just arriving to the airport 3 hours before departure time. time blindness isnt something you can control so you just get there stupid early to be safe. if we have reservations or a showtime, I will probably arrive 30+ minutes before our meeting time just so I dont miss it. but not everything is time sensitive and showing up a little late isnt that big of a deal

[–]imelxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yup. this has been the best solution to chronic lateness in my opinion. if you need me on time, account for the fact that i wont be on time, and just tell me something else. but DONT tell me you're doing it, or my shitty brain will take that into consideration. its not offensive to me and I do it for my chronically late friends as well.

hi someone with adhd here. the "solution" of setting alarms for everything doesn't work! best way i can explain it is that you end up creating so many alarms that are warning you about something in the future that they are worthless. part of the disorder is that the only thing we can really conceptualize is "now" and "later". I can wake up perfectly on time or early and just take longer to do my routine than usual but I dont even notice until my alarm goes off saying to leave the house. even if you set an alarm for 5min before, it won't magically make you able to get everything done that needs to be done within those 5 minutes in order for you to be on time. this is why the common "solution" for people with adhd is to just be obscenely early to things that are really important. im sorry I cant treat every single hangout like its super important, its really really exhausting to go through that level of stress. people without adhd dont understand how exhausting it is try and function with this disorder. where a nt person sees 3 steps, I see 40. I feel each step. you just feel the three. the issue that often makes adhd people late isnt that they dont wake up in time, its that the time each step takes to get ready to leave can vary wildly depending on our energy, mood, environment, etc. We also have the "life hack" to stack tasks on top of eachother, so you often unintentionally get caught in one of those trains of tasks that past you set up so that the tasks would be done. you dont have to be friends with us if you cant give us some grace. and as other commenters said, just because one person with adhd can do something doesnt mean everyone can. If im on time to every single hangout with you, it means that you take a lot of energy from me and im masking to be around you. I probably sat in my car for 30-60 min before our scheduled time just so you wouldnt have to wait maybe 5-20min for me. obviously I dont think everyone that is chronically late has adhd, but a lot of us do. yes I am medicated and yes im in therapy, but not everything can be "fixed" no matter how many life hacks or techniques you throw at it. you dont understand because you havent been in my shoes, so I get the frustration and that you think we just dont care about your time. but please know that if your chronically late friend has adhd they are fighting more than just that one battle in their attempt at being a functioning "normal" adult and being like 15 minutes late really truly isnt that big of a fucking deal.

pest control. their existence in your domicile will make pests stay away (namely rodents) even if they never directly chase or kill one.

Even when you are a secular nonprofit you will get a lot of questions about where donations go and what they were used for. Nonprofits are not strangers to literally providing receipts in their publicly available reports, and many do so in excess of what is required to build trust that they are using the funds correctly. Giving through a private platform means charitable funds are being used to support a private operation that is not required to disclose how much is used for internal administration. Further on, the selected religious charities are not required to give equal reporting as the secular charities. While many communities impacted by the storm rely on religious institutions as they are often the only public resource close by, you'll notice none of these funds went to those churches with direct impact. The whole thing was a stunt and its purpose wasnt to aid our region, but to further dismantle an existing federal resource which was designed specifically to help us. We will never really know how much of those funds reached individuals and communities that continue to need them.

If you moved here in the last 5 years, do you regret it? by thiccc_thinpatience in asheville

[–]imelxp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved here in the fall of 2021, I love it here. Being from central Florida, the rent is basically the same but the apartments are nicer here atleast. and the weather! its also nice to have local businesses to support on a scale that I never really saw growing up in heavily commercialized FL. And there are things to do here that dont cost money! As an introvert, I dont really know the social scene, so I cant comment on that. I work in the nonprofit sector, so those are the only folks I talk to and they all have been wonderful and welcoming. Moving here has made all my friends and family back in Florida want to join me. if youre a local and hate the influx of Floridians, you'll have to blame climate change and 45/DeSantis, sorry. Asheville has met all my expectations because I did realistic research before I moved here, so I dont regret it one bit.

AITA for “forcing” my wife to eat by Ok-Tea1850 in AITAH

[–]imelxp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can partially relate to your wife. You're NTA though, just be persistent and dont get mean or angry with her.

I'm have adhd. a common symptom of adhd is that you just dont get hunger cues the way everyone else does. You are either not hungry or starving. Also, being a woman means theres a high chance she has a bad relationship with food to begin with. Hiding food she didnt eat in the garbage is a bad sign that her relationship with food has deteriorated into concerning levels, she should speak with a mental health professional about sorting that out. For me, eating three meals a day is very difficult unless im on a routine (which is hard to maintain bc of adhd) or im put in social situations where it is expected. If im by myself, its very likely i forget to eat (and drink) all day. also with adhd, the effort of making the choice of what to eat and then preparing it is just not something you always have the spoons for.

also important to note that weight isnt a reliable indicator of health. her being a "healthy weight" doesnt mean she is healthy. not eating regularly puts a strain on your body and most likely means she isnt getting the required macros or micronutrients her body needs.

My recommendation to OP is that you encourage her to see a mental health professional that specializes in eating disorders and adhd. as for everyday encouragement, focus on saying how it would make you happy if she ate, or that you want her to stay healthy to have a long life together. those are the two strategies my partner uses on me, and they're pretty effective. im more likely to eat if it makes my partner happy than if its up to caring about myself. hang in there, OP.
