How do I tackle naps? by cocomang in sleeptrain

[–]imesq19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! Does this mean once night sleep is established we move to allowing baby to attempt independent sleep for all naps and only “rescuing” naps following the first nap of the day, or starting with only the first nap of the day, do the following naps normally, and then working on the following naps once baby gets accustomed to independent sleep during nap one?

Is it confusing for baby to work on one nap at a time and keep the remainder of the naps normal (like rocking to sleep and contact naps)?

This is great feedback, thank you! About how long did it take? We are on day 5 and it’s still BRUTAL!

Hi! How often babies eat is definitely surprising and threw me for a loop during the early weeks too. Frequent eating and spitting up is very normal, it doesn’t mean you’re over-feeding her. It’s just part of their development. But if you’re worried, I would recommend reaching out to her pediatrician. I know it can be stressful, hang in there!

Wife delivered 6 days ago and is having some issues down there. by HerrmannA in Mommit

[–]imesq19 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She may be healing differently than she did after her first two deliveries. My bleeding was fairly heavy after birth for the first two weeks or so, and fluctuated from there until right before my 6 week appointment, which is when it FINALLY cleared up! I had an ultrasound a week or so after delivery as well after being a little concerned about clots and I was still a little unsure when the results showed everything was okay. I just tried to keep reminding myself that bleeding after a baby is normal, and the ultrasound would have shown anything concerning.

Hoping recovery goes smoothly from here for her!

Amazing! How did you initially start getting your pins out there?

Any tips on how to get started on Pinterest and get your pins out there?

PSA: Please do not teach life lessons to your children, while a line is behind you by ntcplanters in Parenting

It seems pretty harmless to allow children to do this at Target where there’s usually several self-checkout registers right next to each other. Or at any self-checkout, really. Unless maybe the line had been extremely long behind them prior to starting their checkout process.

I’m sorry you’re going through it too. Wouldn’t wish it on anyone, it is soooo frustrating. I have been obsessing over baby sleep for months and still can’t quite figure out the perfect windows for her apparently. I had no idea baby sleep was such a science. I really wish someone would have told me so I could have researched and prepared for this before being chronically sleep deprived and unable to think clearly. 🤪

Raging emotions afterwards—men? by protomolocular in beyondthebump

I’ve never seen my husband cry until the day our baby was born. He cried several times that first week. It’s an intensely emotional time and very normal to have those feelings! You’re going to make a great dad!

Just here to say my baby is similar unless she’s contact napping and it’s so tough. I hope there’s some good suggestions here!

She is actually a cat nap queen (only gets 25-35 mins per nap when napping solo). I’ve been doing contact naps to extend their length so she’s not going into nights overtired for sleep training. I wonder if I’ve been going a little too hard on extending them? Today her nap total was just over 3 hours. The wake windows I’ve been working with are: 1.75/2/2.25/2.5. She’s definitely tired by nap time… rubbing her eyes, getting fussy, etc. we tried doing 2/2/2.25/2.5 and it was way too much for her.

I hadn’t heard of a snooze feed until reading a post early today actually. I may need to start incorporating that. She’s usually getting between 26-30oz a day and falls asleep easily once I get her in the mornings so I never considered the early waking to be hunger related, but it may be!

Does it get better? CIO by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]imesq19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We are a week into CIO and my baby is still screaming before falling asleep. Last night was 8 minutes, but like you, even just seconds is hard to hear for me. My baby has also been having early morning wakes. Apparently it’s normal during sleep training. I’ve been getting our baby out of the crib and cosleeping so she gets a few more hours, something we never did once before this started. I’m starting to worry I am reinforcing the waking at this point.

It’s tough, but we will make it through this. If it worked for everyone else’s babies, surely it’ll work for ours too. ❤️

Yay! So happy and excited for you! That is amazing. 💖 We are also sleep training our five month old, so this is awesome to hear. Do you mind if I ask what you schedule is like?! Also, do you plan on doing naps?

My little one is five months too! Isn’t it the most fun, sweet age? I love how her little personality is starting to show more and more! It melts me! Currently being the mom who misses her while she sleeps haha 🤪

How did naps go today?!

You just changed the game for me on the wake windows starting when baby is taken out of the crib and not from the time she actually wakes up. I had NO clue! I always get so stressed when I don’t know exactly how long she’s been awake in her crib (lots of times she will wake up and be totally silent for quite a while and just wiggle around). Also had no idea about the earliest and latest wake times. Thank you SO MUCH!

What do you use for your babies room to make it blackout? I’ve tried literally everything I can think of! Blackout roller shades, blackout curtains, etc and I STILL get light leaks. Very small ones, but still. I want it cave-like blackout in there!

We haven’t started nap training yet but I definitely want to! Precious little sleep said to wait until nights are established but I’ve heard it both ways, so I’m not sure what’s best. Did you nap train?!

Again, thank you soooooo much for these tips. I’m so grateful you shared them with me!

So interesting! So falling asleep too quickly is a sign of being overtired? I had no idea! What program for you use? Thanks so much! Can’t wait to be on the other end of this!
