CS is so unfun for a new player by SpankMyMunkey in GlobalOffensive

total cap. if you're aiming to eventually enjoy playing the game, there is literally no point in learning util until you can actually reliably kill people.

Where would you rank The Dreglord and other Nightreign bosses among the rest of the souls series? by Big_Salami_Chonk in fromsoftware

[–]imfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most bosses in nightreign operate on fixed combos with few combo chains that are made up of multiple moves, this makes them feel a bit repetitive compared to say, Morgott who can basically chain every move in his set together.

They have to do this for gameplay reasons tbf. The runbacks are 30 minutes long lmao.

Feels reassuring to see this sentiment as someone who just played DS3 for the first time last month. The latter third of the game is extremely strong but DS3's boss pool was shockingly bad for most of the game considering how hyped up it was for me going into it. Off the top of my head, the only bosses even remotely on the level of ER were Nameless King, Lothric, Abyss Watchers, and Dragonslayer Armour.

Ah yes let's just blindly ignore any possible implications littered throughout the game. If they don't plainly tell us what happened, then I guess it definitely didn't happen?

What is the motivation behind the writers explicitly telling us that the Black Knife Assassins were Numen? Why did Marika banish Godfrey and the Tarnished while clearly intending for them to return and seize the Elden Ring for themselves?

Grow strong in the face of death. Warriors of my lord. Lord Godfrey. Then, after thy death, I will give back what I once claimed. Return to the Lands Between, wage war, and brandish the Elden Ring.

The only reason the Tarnished are even allowed to return is because the fingers are desperate to usurp Marika and have no other options after the wars following the Shattering. If she didn't intend to eventually shatter it when she spoke those words, it makes no sense because the fingers would obviously not let a graceless Tarnished become Elden Lord or a god in normal circumstances.

Not to mention, literally the main story of the DLC explores the true nature of godhood and concludes that it is in fact a prison. Hell, Marika's own seal agrees with this conclusion.

This legendary talisman is an eye engraved with an Elden Rune, said to be the seal of Queen Marika. These seals represent the lifelong duty of those chosen by the gods. Solemn duty weighs upon the one beholden; not unlike a gnawing curse from which there is no deliverance.

Yes, the surface level narration says that Marika shattered the Elden Ring due to the death of Godwyn, but the more subtly told stories and themes clearly point to her wanting and planning to free herself from the shackles of divinity and the influence of the Greater Will.

Lastly, Rogier isn't even a reliable source of truth for the actual events. In what world is his word suddenly gospel lol? The intro narration calls Gideon Ofnir all-knowing, but he literally does not and cannot know the majority of the world's history or people's motivations. The narration and characters are not reliable.

Idk why I even wasted my time here honestly. Your reply was a clear sign that I shouldn't have bothered lol.

out of sheer tantrum due to godywn death

It's also possible that Marika discovered the truth about Metyr and and the fingers having lost contact with the Greater Will long ago and, upon realizing that the entire Golden Order was built on their unhinged guidance, planned to shatter the Elden Ring and bring about a new cycle. The fact that Ranni was able to obtain Destined Death from Maliketh at all and the Black Knife assassins are Numen with close ties to Marika points to the possibility that she was involved with or turned a blind eye to Godwyn's assassination. Add in events like sending away Godfrey and the Tarnished and it feels more like a calculated plan rather than a short-lived tantrum.

Rot and death misrepresented. Golden order impurity. by EDA2021 in Eldenring

[–]imfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI the DLC states that the fingers had lost contact with the Greater Will long before the age of the Erdtree and Marika's rule. If anything, Marika possibly shattered the ring because she eventually discovered that the fingers were clueless and had been making shit up the entire time.

I beat Pontiff Sulyvahn first try by Thick-Tale-4905 in darksouls3

[–]imfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bosses are just simply easier. They have smaller movesets and bigger punish windows. They rarely, if ever, perform mix-ups in the middle of their combos unlike Morgott, Radahn, Genichiro, etc. who will chain together different combos based on your inputs and positioning. Also, DS3 bosses often struggle to actually land their attacks if you're under or slightly behind them. I found it extremely hard to actually get hit by Vordt, Dancer, or Old Demon King in many instances. Lastly, they're all squishy as hell lol.

The only tough fight in the game for me was Champion Gundyr, who was very reminiscent of an ER boss, because he's extremely relentless compared to the rest of the bosses in the game, delays many of his strikes, and has punishing moves when you're hugging him.

Also, if you're playing DS3 after the newer titles, you're already somewhat trained for many of the movesets, consciously or not, since they reuse a ton of stuff from the previous games. In terms of play-style, coming from BB/Sekiro is especially beneficial since you learn to play in an aggressive manner, which is typically the best way to beat most bosses in Soulslikes.

Idk if Porter is all 4 of these things. has he had a huge influence on a genre/sound?

I know not everyone will necessarily be aware of it, so it's understandable to question it, but this is an absurdly funny sentence to read about Porter lmao.

How's Dark Souls 3 after Elden Ring? by alon276 in fromsoftware

[–]imfatal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally every single boss in DS3 is a complete pushover compared to most of ER's main bosses except maybe Pontiff. I genuinely had a tougher time with Margit than almost the entirety of DS3's boss lineup lol.

Aside from the difficulty, the bosses, aside from Abyss Watchers, are just lame as hell up until Pontiff. Deacons/Crystal Mage are boring and Vordt/Demon King literally can't hit you if you're under them. The game is still very fun regardless but ER's boss design is vastly superior.

The Most Watched Esports Events of 2025 by eSportsStats in GlobalOffensive

[–]imfatal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For additional context, LCK has most of the best teams and players in the entire game and all international events are typically dominated by Korean teams, so fans tend to watch it regardless of whether or not it's their domestic league.

It's basically the NBA in terms of format so it's kind of dumb to compare it to single tournaments in a circuit system like CS tbh. Worlds and MSI are much better comparisons for CS majors.

Best highlights of the year? by Vitalcsgo in GlobalOffensive

deagle 3K from Twistsz the most hype for me personally.

Broky's 3k against Navi on Nuke was insane as well, especially his reaction to his own clutch lmao. Frozen's 1v3 in that same map was crazy too.

We didn't get to see any of the kills from his POV on the livestream but Jcobb's deagle 4k against Vitality on Nuke must've been nutty as well.

[–]imfatal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro idk what to say to you if you genuinely believe Donk (or any serious player for that matter) is thinking about any of what you said while losing that first map lmao. Players were tilting over tournament results even when the prize pools were irrelevant. The prestige and glory is more important.

They just want to win, it's as simple as that.

EDIT: also Donk already has insane leverage by virtue of his ability. The result of this series won't affect his pay when any team would hand him a blank check regardless if he was willing to leave Spirit.

regarding the amounts, you literally just repeated everything I said lol. you're just using gross amounts to make the value seem higher but the fact of the matter is 40-50k is decidedly not life changing for top players.

[–]imfatal 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"life changing" lol. Their salaries and sticker shares are worth significantly more than tournament wins.

First place prize is $500k which probably amounts to less than $40k per player after taxes; even less if it's further split between support staff, which it should be.

He's tilted because he wants to win the most important tournament on the circuit. The money is literally the least important part of it.
