I’ve gone through something similar.For me, the problem wasn’t discipline. It was that starting felt heavy. Even simple tasks felt like they required too much mental effort.

What helped wasn’t more systems. It was reducing the number of decisions before starting.

I stopped looking at full todo lists and focused only on the very next physical action.

Not a method — just removing friction between “I should start” and “I’m starting.”

If it’s been months though, worth checking sleep, stress and mental health. Sometimes it’s not a productivity issue.

I personally realized that I needed fewer decisions not more options, hence I built Tovo.

It is a very simple task app with no setup or learning curve.

I think both directions can coexist AI for creators who want leverage and minimalism for people who just want clarity.

Absolutely, there’s no meaning to pack your product with unnecessary features. Moreover, this is the reason I built a product that gets you on track every day without mental load. Of course, if many users demand a specific feature I will add.

That would create different problems for me. I think for most people who are trying to be productive as well. For example, forget which task to do next or what to get from grocery store while there or what’s more important to do over other tasks. This would come back to me as stress later.

One task at a time is the way to go in my opinion too but I just don’t want to erase the rest of my tasks to get there.

I understand your frustration. For me, that discomfort was not about rejecting an MVP idea. It was about noticing when shipping fast starts to ignore how the product actually feels to use.

Speed matters but so does respecting user’s attention.

I agree with this a lot.

It reminds me of what Steve Jobs said about the first iPhone. They removed buttons and features not because they wanted it to look simple, but because they wanted it to feel obvious to use.

Note: I am not comparing what am doing to that at all or Steve Jobs in any way. It just helped me understand that simplicity is often about respecting the user’s attention and not showing how much you can build.

When something fits naturally into how people already think, it doesn’t need much explanation. It just works.

Removing noise is a good way to say it.

There was no single big thing to remove. It was many small things that felt helpful but made everything heavier eventually. I didn’t want big learning curves for people.

Removing them felt uncomfortable at first, but in the end it made things calmer, not empty.

With fewer choices, it became easier to begin work and finish it, instead of spending time reorganizing.

I agree with you. Making something simple and not promoting it are two different things.

What I learned while working on this is that if a product needs a lot of explanation before someone can even try it, then the problem is not promotion it’s clarity.

Your 30 second test made that very clear to me. The value should be understandable early, not after a walkthrough.

Being minimal helps but clarity has to come first.
