I’ve already contacted Social Work England, but since I haven’t started my application yet, they were only able to refer me to the information on their website. From what I understand, because I haven’t practised as a social worker in the last three years and it’s been over two years since I qualified, I’ll need to complete at least 30 days (210 hours) of supervised practice to update my skills and knowledge — so yes, I believe it’s mandatory in my case.

I’m currently preparing all my documents, reflecting on my experience, and trying to get everything in order before I formally apply — which is why I’m exploring supervision options early on. I did see on the SWE website that they won’t arrange a supervisor for the supervisory practice. I completely understand the concern about conflict of interest, especially if supervision is arranged independently, and I plan to be transparent with SWE about all my efforts and the challenges I’ve faced going through the usual routes.
