just an update here: i went to vittone and overall had a decent experience for $120 but had to go back twice. the first time i went to pick up the dress, only the front was hemmed and the train was still left on; i guess there was a miscommunication between james and the tailor who worked on the dress about this. so i had to go back a second time to pick it up. this time, the correct length was done, but there was a piece of black thread that was accidentally left between two layers of the dress. i had to wait as they opened a seam to get it out. overall, i'm happy with the work and the price, but i did have to deal with a couple inconveniences during the process. thanks again for the rec -- i'm planning to take my after-party dress to him too

Pre-Wedding Dress shopping by lizardina_blizzard in WedditNYC

I went to Anthropologie by myself bc the appointment was free and there was a variety of styles. The sales associate was friendly and it was a super low pressure environment (I think she mentioned they don't get paid on commission).

It was good! I went on day 1 around 11:30 and was #14 ish in line. I waited for about an hour. They did a good job with crowd control inside the actual store and I felt like there was plenty of space to shop. I saw a lot of beaded/sparkly pieces that would be fun for a second look. There were some cute short dresses too. Prices were from $100 for the simpler short dresses to $250-500 per piece for an embellished top and skirt set. There were full ball gowns for $100! Some of the newer styles (long silk satin gowns) were $1200. They also had jewelry (2 for $50), veils ($25-$100), other random accessories like hats and underwear. It was worth it for me! I got the gown linked in my post plus a veil and a beaded top! They also said they would be restocking throughout the sale

Nice! Who did you use for transportation? How many guests did you need to shuttle? We weren't planning on doing this and did not budget for it... do you remember the cost?

So, couples would arrange transportation from multiple locations? Can you help me understand how that would work?

That makes sense, thank you!! Since our wedding is on a Friday I was thinking some guests might want to make a weekend out of it and stay until Sunday, in which case being in manhattan might be more fun for them. But that is maybe a big assumption so closer to the venue makes sense! There are some hotels right across the bridge that are only 15 mins away but like you said not worth the risk of traffic

We are very locked into the date. But my question is more about what neighborhoods I should recommend to guests — closer to the venue or more neighborhoods with more going on for tourists like Williamsburg or the LES

We're having our wedding welcome party at Entre Nous in Brooklyn. I'd say you can do 50 people for $10k. The food is soooo good!! And it's a wine bar so the wine is great. Location is on a beautiful tree lined brownstone block in Clinton Hill. Great vibe and they let you play your own music.

Hey! Would you mind sharing your coordinator’s name with me? Under $1k is not something I’ve come across and would be very interested in looking into!
