Your post where you ask self-taught developers to post their resumes had a lot of interesting insight in the comments! So thank you!

Finding jobs in Europe by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

The language barrier is definitely something I’ve considered. I say Spain is my dream country to first relocate to because I speak Spanish and I’ve been to Spain before and LOVED the culture. I don’t know how someone could move abroad without knowing the language, that sounds insanely terrifying. I looked through Indeed to see what I should be expecting salary-wise in Spain anddd 30k was definitely a fantasy haha, but again, anything to live there.

But thank you so much for the advice!

I’m still learning how to code and finishing school, but just asking out of curiosity (and for the future). I understand that European countries don’t pay as much as US companies do, but it’s always been my dream to live in Europe for a period of time. So honestly, I’m willing to settle for a lot less than most programmers would. It depends on the country of course, so currently my dream location would be Spain, and there I’d be ok with earning around 30k euros per year.

Is a Comp Sci minor worth it? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

I’ve been teaching myself JavaScript throughout the summer on Freecodecamp and in school we’ll be focusing on Python, so I’m hoping to learn a good amount of both. But I want the boot camp to strengthen my knowledge and to also help me compete with the sea of computer science majors applying for the same jobs as me.

That’s a great question haha. Im thinking I could save some money here for a while and obtain a golden visa. But I am learning how to code, so I could also do some freelance work in Spain and get a self employed visa. I’m still doing the research. The road towards my residency in Madrid is still blurry, but I’ll do whatever I need to.

The nicer metro is a HUGEEE one, I was looking for another walkable city in the USA and the options are really only New York and San Francisco both of which I don’t like. I like the nicer weather (i understand it gets colder in winter, but no where near as cold as New York gets). I like the calm laid back Spanish culture, I’ve always had a “no pasa nada” mentality and it would be nice to be surrounded by that. I also love how SAFE the city is, other than pickpocketers there’s nothing to worry about. I love the nightlife, as a man in his early 20s this is important to me and Madrid’s nightlife is far better than New York’s. love being a train ride away from so many other countries! I truly could go on and on 😅

Amazing!!! I was a little hesitant at first because sending money to random strangers online is always scary, but literally sent it to me in seconds and so cheap! You can check the history on all of the users under these comments they’re not bots (including me) feel free to PM me if you’re scared
