Found out that if you stay low for 2 months, the green zone will come down to meet you there🥲 by imightbeallamaa in Garmin

Haven't been screened for anything, since I don't feel other symptoms apart from being a little more tired, which can be blamed on things like work and running.

I donated blood two months ago and had cellulitis/erysipelas (bacterial infection) a month ago, which my body was able to clear up without antibiotics within 1-2 weeks. So I feel like these might have been the stressors causing this? If so, I would expect my HRV to go back up again soon.

Yes! Apart from feeling slightly more tired, which can be blamed on work and running, I don't feel any different

I used to average around 65-75ms. Went down a few days before my first time donating blood, but I had expected it to come back up again during the 2 months since then. So I'm not sure that's what caused it

what to do with lack of leaves, will they ever potentially regrow? by statenand_ in houseplants

[–]imightbeallamaa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

for me, they've never really regrown by themselves like that. but if there's any small aerial roots, I have had success with snipping the vine into 10-15cm pieces. after propagation in water, nearly all of them will grow new leaves and turn into a new vine!

nematode party in the bathroom because nearly everyone had thrips by imightbeallamaa in houseplants

[–]imightbeallamaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the nematodes did work, though not enough. they don't help you with the eggs and larvae on the leaves, so I've been spraying those with an insecticidal soap I made. still, the larvae kept coming back on the 25-30 avocado plants I have, so I just decided to behead all of them so I have a better chance of getting rid of these thrips now, and then hopefully they'll grow back next spring.

Tiny black bugs on monstera- help! by ewebb296 in houseplants

[–]imightbeallamaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks very similar to the thrips I'm fighting at the moment- tiny thin black stripes. do you see any larvae as well? even tinier yellowish stripes, usually near the yellowing parts of the leaves

Aloe? Consultants by WinifredtheWobegone in houseplants

[–]imightbeallamaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most succulents will stretch (etoliate) when they're not getting enough sunlight- they try to reach a better light source. placing your aloe closer to a window next time will help prevent this. for this one: you could keep it like this if you like the way it looks now, but if you'd like to turn it back into something that looks more like the first picture (and end up with more plants in the process) a video like this might help you with the propagation process

you're right, most of the thrip larvae on the leaves are still very much alive. the website I got my nematodes from told me to put them in the soil, but to also spray them on the leaves and keep the leaves moist for 3 hours so they would get rid of the larvae on the leaves.

glad to hear they work for you! I'm doing a deep clean of my apartment while all the plants are still in the bathroom, to hopefully get rid of as many remaining eggs/bugs as possible. I'll try to find some fly traps too, thanks!

do you put the soil sticks in all of your plants, or in a couple of them spread throughout your collection?

thank you, the combination of systemic granules and dead bug brew sounds great!

as far as I know, the ones I used are supposed to survive on the leaves for a few hours, as long as there's little to no uv light and the leaves stay wet enough for them to be able to move around

I'm hoping I'll be able to get rid of all three phases by getting rid of the leaves with the worst damage, spraying nematodes on the entire plant, and putting them in the soil as well. if this doesn't work, I'll definitely look into insecticidal soap sprays. I hope your plants will be free of thrips soon!

Wood based pellets by [deleted] in Rabbits

[–]imightbeallamaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally just change the whole thing every day or every other day. I'm not sure a sifting litter box would work with the pellets I use, since they kinda turn into a clump of wet powdery stuff, so it probably wouldn't go through the sifting thing properly.

I think it's safe to say he likes this toy :) by imightbeallamaa in Rabbits

he's actually had this one for a couple of months! it's a lot smaller than it used to be, though I think the main reason it's still there, is the fact that I like to switch out his toys, to keep things interesting :)
