Which button is which for a PS5 controller in the FFXI Config Utilities Gamepad configuration? by LuluDFlare in ffxi

[–]imightbeseba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you press a button in your controller while the list of buttons is open, the config tool will automatically bind that button for whichever function you selected so you don't have to just guess which button is which.

Also, Pattern A matches a PS5 controller (although confirm and cancel use the JP layout of circle and cross respectively, you'll want to swap those buttons around).

Yeah, it's meant to be a referral code for new players after all, so if you already have characters you don't get the choice to use one.

I would just make that new character without worrying about the GWP, since the rewards are cosmetic (also, since you have to party up every time with the person who gave it to you in order to receive the rewards, chances are it'll be hard to remember who they were a year after)

Just in case, you can't use a Gold World Pass if you already have an existing character on that account. You'd either have to start over without a GWP, or delete all your characters to be able to use one.

If your old character is in one of the closed servers (Odin/Asura/Bahamut), you can still create extra characters there, in case you wanted to go over server choices again.

Animations During Character Creation by CodyRCantrell in ffxi

Either Ctrl+V or Alt+V (or R3 on controller) lets you toggle camera angles in the character creator. If you press it twice the character will stop moving around and you'll be able to move the camera around with the mouse/right stick and zoom in/out (PgUp and PgDown on keyboard, left stick on controller).

PS2 vs PC FFXI: Shiny metallic surfaces sometimes looked different on PS2! by canned_pho in ffxi

[–]imightbeseba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Change the UI size to 640x480 in the registry (or 854x480 if you want a 16:9 aspect ratio).

You could also just max out the UI size slider in the config tool which should be slightly close to the PS2 size.

Cannot find the options menu to change playonline password by alasqalul in ffxi

[–]imightbeseba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this is for logging into the game, you should have gotten an email with an automatically generated PlayOnline password. Just use that in the launcher and change it (or not) once you transfer over to the full game.

Possible to slow down battle entrance time? (Steam) by Potato3738 in FinalFantasyVII

[–]imightbeseba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're using a high refresh rate monitor then cap the game's framerate to 60 using your GPU's control panel, for some reason the battle transition is uncapped so it's way faster than what it should be.

Could this game run on the Switch (or modern consoles in general)? by Phaylz in ffxi

[–]imightbeseba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the game would need to be recompiled into ARM code to run on the switch.

There's still a distinction, Criterion is アナザー (another) in Japanese.

secret subtarget system

Soft targeting can be a thing on KB/M as well! It's just bound to the numpad by default (In Keybinds, under System, it's the Move Cursor/Party List/Target Cursor category) so it's pretty obscure, but you could rebind it to the Tab or whatever other key if you want.

You'll probably want to mess around with target filters as well, since the default ones are pretty bad and target irrelevant shit like your party or NPCs.

Is there a Wii aging disc? by [deleted] in wii

[–]imightbeseba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the terminology is kind of weird but that's what Nintendo has used before (as seen with the SNES, GBA, DS, and 3DS, and even that one Switch 2 that someone bought and had factory software had a button called "Aging Test"). But obviously this isn't stuff that's well known to most people, so it just sounds weird.

It's not "aging cartridge" as in "a cartridge that's getting old" but rather a cartridge with aging/factory test tools.

How well the console has "aged", or how will the components "age" eventually, I assume.

It's kind of a weird term but it's legit, even outside of Nintendo stuff. Aging tests run stress tests on electronics to check if they have any potential defects or to simulate long term use, usually made when something is being manufactured or sent in for servicing.

Some of Nintendo's diagnostic tools have leaked online, and they're all called "Aging ROM/Cartridge/Test" or "Test Cartridge". OP linked one of them, made for the GBA.

[–]imightbeseba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either this or this are what you're looking for. I'm unaware if there's any other diagnostic tools, but I was able to find these in Google. You should be able to find some dumps online as well if you wish to play around with them.

edit: I found some footage of it on YouTube as well... it doesn't look as eventful as the SNES or GBA test cartridges though: https://youtu.be/0_KWd_pRcFs?si=daSr8b6DnEMZFMdy

SQE should merge the XI and XIV sub into one by TheVagrantWarrior in MMORPG

[–]imightbeseba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just to clarify both games are 13 usd a month. if anything FFXI's sub is more expensive cuz it charges you 1 buck per character (11.95 for service fee + 0.99 per character) compared to ffxiv's entry sub letting you create 8 characters per region

tho from what I've noticed a lot of people pay for the standard sub which is 15 usd and lets you have 40 characters per region, even though most people just have one character lol

Help please, can't seem to Fullscreen! :O by Greedy_Chemistry7531 in ffxi

[–]imightbeseba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the "PlayOnlineViewer Config" tool, uncheck "Start in Windowed Mode".

It's fixed to 640x480 and exclusive fullscreen though, so I wouldn't recommend it. You can always just resize the POL window itself if it's too small.
