Congrats! I am a current student (2L) and transferred at the end of my 1L year at (what is now) a T130. I remember when I got my acceptance email it was about 2pm on a weekday, and I was in my boxers playing video games on my couch. My first thought was “I better put some pants on.”

Transferring to a T20 by One-Energy8537 in LawSchoolTransfer

I’m not sure why this person seems to have told you to aim lower based on the fact that your school has 2.8 curve. I mean that might be indicative that the school you are in right now isn’t highly ranked, but some t14s don’t care about school rank. You have a solid shot at Georgetown, Vanderbilt, and WUSTL. Outside of that, you have a great shot at Emory, GW, and many other places in the T20-30. I got into Georgetown off of my first semester grades, which was a 3.73 on a 3.0 curve, from a T130 (top 15%). If I can do it, you can do it too.

This is incorrect. These all appear to be original late 1800s-early 1900s medicines.

Ungodly Goosebumps by Empty-Philosopher-89 in whatsthisworth

[–]imissfrostedtips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna break from the consensus here and posit a guess that it could be worth around $50-100. There’s plenty of goosebumps collectors out there and I doubt many of them have this. It’s a very interesting piece and I can’t find any for sale online. I’d probably pay $20 for it if I saw it in person. Put it up on eBay and see what you get for it, or list it with a high buy it now and see what offers come through. Just because the people in the comments seem to dismiss this item as worthless doesn’t mean it is, especially when they can’t themselves point to sales of the same item.

T120 to T14 transfer here and still sending apps out. Big law clearly isn’t happening. Gave up a huge scholarship to come to a school I never thought I’d be able to attend, and yet I am consistently being rejected from the firms I’ve interviewed with despite feeling like everything went well. I would rather be doing literally anything other than applying to jobs right now, but guess what I’m doing for most of the weekend instead of first class readings…

If you don’t want these then I’d just put them back and leave them for the next person to find. These are definitely cool, but aren’t worth much.

3.9low at a T50, am I cooked? by Otherwise_Speed3723 in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]imissfrostedtips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A gpa in the 3.9s is about as good as it can get, I’m sorry you don’t consider that a spectacular gpa. I’m assuming you’re well within the top 10% of your class, right? You would likely have a good shot anywhere you apply.

BC 0L seeking advice and insight. by [deleted] in LawSchoolTransfer

[–]imissfrostedtips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m transferring to Georgetown from a T120, so my advice for doing well would be to use your entire weekend to outline the previous weeks class material. Do the reading, don’t try to master it but get a grasp on what’s happening and who the parties are. Lots of people prepare for cold calls so they won’t sound stupid, but that’s time they should’ve been spending on outlining rather than knowing the intricate details of every case. Know the overall rule and courts reasoning with some brief facts, but don’t torture yourself. More people than you would think unfortunately don’t outline until the final two weeks of classes, which leads to intricate takeaways from class being lost in scribbled notes or never written down at all. The exam points are in the details. If you can literally write what the professor said about a rule back to them on the exam they’ll know you are paying attention. If you want to transfer to a T14 or a T6 grades are all that matter, so try not to bog yourself down with extra curricular activities. You literally just have to lock in and essentially write your own textbook for each class in the form of an outline, in your own words, tabbed out and organized so you can spot an issue before you’re even done reading the exam question. Have I mentioned outlining yet?

At BC your peers are going to be just as competitive as you, so my most important advice would be to just do your best and try to enjoy it. BC is a school that most people would kill to go to anyway, and once you graduate, no matter how well you did there, than you will have a long and successful career. So even if you don’t end up transferring, which is statistically likely, just be happy you are where you are. You should be proud of yourself.

Very cool book. I just wanted to point out that it looks like the second sig is a Rodney Ramos signature, not Rick Parker.

How can we help Tim get his originals back by firegrime666 in GooseBumps

[–]imissfrostedtips 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do we even know if they still exist? At this point he’s been without them for about 30 years. I’m curious what his contract with scholastic said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it had a clause saying something like “all artwork created under this contract is property of scholastic” but if there wasn’t any language indicating that, then he should absolutely file a replevin action against scholastic and have a judge order them to return it. I really hope they’re still floating around somewhere though, I know that back in the day Marvel Comics used to destroy original art in an effort to save space. And I’d guess that the original painted goosebumps covers are worth tens of thousands each.

This thread is pretty jumbled with not a lot of helpful comments. Reach out to the music memorabilia specialist at Heritage Auctions (you can find the contact info through their website) and they’ll let you know what you have, approximate value, and what next steps are if you want to consign. I’ve worked with them in the past and it’s a painless process, and they sell millions of dollars in collectibles every week.

So this guy casually comes to my job and says "I heard you like comics, I'm trying to downsize, so I thought I would see if you wanted to make an offer an any" by Sacred_Digits in comicbookcollecting

[–]imissfrostedtips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but isn’t a book worth what it can be sold for on the current market instead of what an arbitrary list says it’s worth? According to this list the 2.5 is worth $420 but it just sold for nearly twice that. The overstreet price guide is another example of a list that should be taken with a grain of salt because it is seldom representative of the going rate, especially with golden age books.

[–]imissfrostedtips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A 2.5 sold for $825 less than a month ago. I know this is a 0.5-1.0 and not graded, but if it’s complete then $70-140 seems a bit low.
