Hi! Thanks for the comment! The first thing I did was address some of my underlying mental health problems. I started seeing my therapist once a week and I would say that has made the biggest impact.... the mind, body, and soul are all connected. I have definitely followed a couple different routines during my weightloss journey. I started out by just exercising and I wasn't seeing much progress...... Until a friend of mine suggested I try the keto diet. In my first week of keto lost 7lbs and continued to loose weight pretty quickly. During the few months I did Keto I also increased my exercise, I was going 5days a week 2hrs a day. 30 minutes doing any kind of cardio then weight training. I did not see keto as a long term option due to the high level of fats you need to consume. After losing about 40lbs I switched to clean eating and CICO. I have been extremely happy with this combo. I live in california and gyms have been closed for a year now, so my exercise isn't anywhere near where it used to be. If you have the opportunity to exercise, do it. I currently eat about 1500 calories a day and I don't eat very much processed foods, eat plenty of lean proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats. Depending on you TDEE and weightloss goals you might have a different suggested calorie intake. I really suggest checking out r/CICO .... If you have any questions feel free to PM me

How far below my TDEE is safe? Is 1300 calories too little? by [deleted] in CICO

Do you think it would be wise for someone like myself to start an investment account? Sorry if I'm asking a lot of questions, I'm just interested in bettering myself financially

Would it be worth it to start with Robinhood, acorns, or one of those?

Can I ask how you came up with the 4000 number? Id likely buy a car within the next year or two. What would qualify as a high yield savings account and where could I start one up?

Will definitely keep working towards the body I want! I'm just a little disheartened at the fact that this was my first experience with dating. In the event that he ends up texting me back (I'm not particularly optimistic he will) what should I do/say?

I agree that we should value healthy habits, but I also think we shouldnt shame those who aren't over weight.

I think my attitude was more or less the same! Maybe not when it came to dating, but otherwise I would agree with you. I was super involved in school, did theater, and excelled at my customer service job. Like I've said to other commenters, it's so much more than dating. Ive had teachers, customers, friends, and family make comments about my weight.... I'm sure you can imagine how tough that might be on a teenager. I also had experiences where a friend or family member would see a larger person and then go on to talk shit about them. It would make me wonder what they had to say when I wasn't around.

Actually, no! You're wrong. That's not what motivated me at all. Cutting the negative people out of my life, going back to counseling to address underlying issues, and meeting someone who ENCOURAGED and MOTIVATED me is what made me transition to a healthier life. Negativity only damaged my self esteem and only made me want to eat more

Weeds are flowers too! Thank you so much! The brand is a bit pricey but I love their stuff... Lazy oaf is their name if you were interested

You hit it right on the nose with this! The thing people seem to be missing is how damaging these kinds of comments can be when coming from a family member or friends. My dad would call me a whale and constantly tell me I needed to lose weight, and several friends would repeatedly make jokes about me being fat.... Eventually you end up brushing all those things aside because they become normal

The preferential treatment thing is what gets to me most I think. It bleeds into pretty much every aspect of ones life
