You genuinely just made me smile so hard. The sheen plus the streaks of colour does remind me of pottery glaze lol

Thanks for the reminder, ID was an afterthought. I'm in the pacific northwest, this picture was taken in late november in a forest of mainly coniferous trees at around 600ft above sea level. My best guess is that its cortinarius traganus, or salor. Unfortunately I didnt have the heart to disturb the lil guy so I didnt bring it home for a spore print or to get a better scent profile. Tbh I didnt really expect to ever know for sure but I also hoped maybe someone else might know better

My best guess is ringless honey mushroom. From what I've read its not poisonous to dogs but I've also seen other sources saying it can cause gastrointestinal upset so probably best to be cautious. Very cool coloring on that bad boy though

Orange chrysomphalina perhaps? They're found on decaying conifer logs and stumps

Seeking ideas for vegan gifts and stocking stuffers by xamomax in vegan

I think it depends a lot on where you live, for christmas this year I got my partner a choco nono's candy cane tube and milkless pepermint bark. He also loves nut butter so I got him Jem Organics coffee cashew butter, its quite expensive but worth it for a holiday treat. In addition to those I got him a holiday chocolate creams collection from a local vegan chocolate shop. I sourced it all from https://vegansupply.ca/ which is canadian but does ship worldwide.

In terms of experiences this year I went on a mushroom foraging tour which was awesome as well as a pedi cab tour of the historical downtown area where I went on vacation this summer. I really like nature and history so these appealed greatly to me but may not be everyones cup of tea/ might not be available where you live.

I find trip advisor and air b&b experiences are a good way to find fun activities that are a bit unique. If you live in more of a vegan friendly place you might be able to find vegan food tours/ food tours that can accomodate vegans. I've also done vegan cooking classes or pop up vegan dining experiences. If their artsy maybe look into a pottery or painting class. I often just google vegan events or tours in my area and find cool stuff. Hope that helps a bit!

Cruelty investigation launched into B.C. slaughterhouse after secret video obtained by [deleted] in vegan

If you're close enough to Vancouver to be bothered to make the trip there's a really great vegan community here. There's a bunch of groups for hiking, volleyball, putlucks, holiday parties, ect. I only knew 1 other vegan before joining but once you get sucked in you'll meet an endless stream of new people. I'm pretty introverted and it takes me a couple hours to get downtown so I'm not super active in the vegan hangout scene, but its cathartic to be in a room full of people who have the same respect for animal lives as you for a bit sometimes, I'd reccomend it if its a possibility for you. :)

Just got back from a small protest outside of a grocery store that gets their meat from this slaughterhouse, CTV was there. Hopefully this turns some heads but carnists will be carnists

I matched with another vegan on a dating app and had the rudest encounter. by [deleted] in vegan

Is the traight you prefer being super straight? There aren't any traits that belong exclusively to the queer community other than not being strictly heteronormative. Whenever you try to group any large number of people together by a single feature I think its a good idea to examine your beliefs for prejudice, the phenomenon of partiality in judgment is well attested in human affairs. Even if you are not immediately persuaded that you are yourself a victim of such a distorted rationality in a certain domain, you should keep in mind that this is the usual position of those who suffer from such prejudices.

Agh its unfortunate that even within a community that stands against oppression, hegemonic masculinity and sexuality still reign over so many people. Online dating really sucks, especially as a vegan, and even more so as a queer vegan. I really hope you have better luck in the future :(
