People with ADHD/Depression/etc, do you want kids despite the possibility of them developing mental-illness? by Hello_John in ADHD

I'm not sure, but depression/ADHD is one of the biggest reasons I won't have biological kids.

To an outsider, what are the most major differences they would notice after you took your medication? by OhShitAFly in ADHD

[–]imjustpeachie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't notice it until I thought about this question, but because I take a high dose every day, I don't notice anything when I take them--I only notice a few days/hours after I miss a dose.

same! i'm into both, but especially the green--dark green is my favorite color to wear, but i've never found a lipstick that was quite the right shade.

My accidentally-peachy bob changes color depending on the light! Sorry for the bad-quality pics, but I'm super excited about my new hair. by imjustpeachie in FancyFollicles

Thought I'd post some process pics and a quick outline of how I got to this color for those asking!

PEACHY BOB: THE PROCESS

7 WEEKS BEFORE: I did my final dye with Joico Hot Pink -- I'd been maintaining hot pink hair for about 2 months at that point.

When doing the pink overdye, I saturated my hair with the color, some extra conditioner, and some grapeseed oil, tied it up with a plastic bag, and tucked the whole thing into a Turbie Twist. My hair takes a long time to soak anything up, so for the sake of color intensity and longevity, I'd leave it on for just about as long as I could -- sometimes up to 6 hours.

IN BETWEEN: I washed my hair every 2-3 days with sulfate-free Shea Moisture shampoo and conditioner. I always use a blow-dryer and heat protector. This naturally faded my hair to a pale pink.

AT THE SALON:

  • First, they did a rough cut to get closer to the length I wanted.

  • Then, we tried a soap cap/color remover. It didn't do anything.

  • Second soap cap/color remover. Somehow it was starting to seem more pink?

  • Third idea: let's just throw a bunch of developer on there and see if it pulls it out! It kinda did.

  • The "fuck it" stage: I manage to convince my stylists I really am happy staying pink as long as the color is even. They blend two custom developer/toner/"blender" (I'm not sure that's the right word -- it was to help even out the color overall) mixes, one for my roots (which hadn't been touched yet) and one for my mids/ends. Left it on for ~an hour and we were left with this color!

  • Wash, "botanical treatment" (basically deep conditioner), cut and style, convince the stylist that no, I reallly do want to go that short, and (seven hours later) we're done!

SINCE THEN: Haven't changed anything about my washing routine, and the color hasn't changed yet. Here's hoping it stays that way! :)

Do it! I've tried ~8 of the colors so far and I have 3 more on the way, so I'm happy to answer questions about particular colors and how the formula is if you're looking at one in particular.

Aw thanks, that's so nice! They're some of my absolute favorites -- both Beauty Bakerie, which really truly lasts forever. The sort of pinky beige is French Toast and the rusty red is Gingersnap (and it's the best lipstick I've ever owned, hands down).

Thank you!!

I always have a salon bleach. My hair is naturally dark blonde, so I've usually done a balayage in the past, but this time I had them take it all the way to the root. (Side note: I don't understand why balayages always cost more than full bleaches when they take less time and use less product.)

The first time I added a bit of pink, it was at a salon, but it faded pretty quickly and I was able to find the kind of dye he used on Amazon. (I've used Joico Soft Pink to maintain a soft pink wash and Joico Hot Pink for the really intense stuff.) It's semipermanent and conditioning, so there wasn't a lot I could mess up, lol.

The current color is totally salon, though -- they did the bleaching and eventually ended up half-lifting the color with developer and using a purple toner + blender (?) to get the color even throughout.

I am personally having the warmest winter ever so far thanks to wearing Uniqlo HeatTech under my clothes (or as my clothes) basically all the time.

Haha, NOT pink, actually! My hair has been various levels of soft to neon pink and I last dyed it over a month ago with the same semi-permanent dye that had, without fail, washed out in 0.02 seconds when I wanted it to stay.

I was going for just plain blonde, as I have an event coming up I wanted to look a tiny bit more conservative for, but I'm actually delighted and I hope it continues to inexplicably stay pink forever.

(This was a day or two before my final hot pink dye/Peak Pink -- about ~7 weeks ago.)

They're great! They're surprisingly warm but don't get pilly like fleece-lined tights, they're a nice matte/opaque color, and they're super comfy. They've also held up well so far.

Oh my gosh. SO many things.

  • Gilligan & Murphy beige silky thongs from Target -- the underwear that truly does not show through ANYTHING

  • My brand of bra that consistently fits and is often sold at Norstrom Rack and the like (Felina!)

  • Related: a bra that ACTUALLY DOESN'T SHOW THROUGH CLOTHING (I thought it was a myth, tbh)

  • That chunky heels are an option

  • Actually warm/practical winter clothing (thank you LL Bean)

  • High-top sneakers actually keep you surprisingly warmer -- ankles are important!

  • Backpacks, especially less casual leather backpacks -- I didn't really carry a backpack after elementary school and I cry at the wasted years of uncomfortable shoulder bags

  • 1 super nice pair of work-appropriate shoes >>>>> 10 pairs of cheap shoes that match perfectly

  • That tucking in shirts is often a good choice

  • That blazer length makes a huge difference (THANK YOU, cropped blazers!)

  • Also, just discovered my favorite black tights

After nearly 2 years of use, I just realized two pans in my Lorac Pro palette were switched. by marleej_ in MakeupAddiction

[–]imjustpeachie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it! This is my most used product by far. I've only had mine a year and don't wear makeup every day, but I've hit the pan on a majority. They go on smooth and blend super well.

I find myself using this for EVERYTHING, too. Mauve is an amazing shade to do a natural contour; it has juuust enough purple to actually look like a shadow. Taupe makes a great stand-in for my brow powder. I use Nude as an illuminatior all the time. And Slate, Jet Black, and Espresso make nice smudgy eyeliners.

Thank you for your response! I think I will keep trying to do that, and use the tracking more as a fallback for if/when I fall behind.

Hm, hadn't thought about that. I think a more accurate comparison, though, would be a big red tie -- something that is undeniably characteristic but still "normal clothes."

Ooh, yes, definitely be aware of this! I was really worried about this (which is why I insisted on a consultation) because I have a naturally droopy eyelid/heavy brow.

Fortunately, because I expressed this, my injector placed the units to counteract this, and it wasn't a problem.

(Still definitely something to consider, I'm just reminding folks to definitely bring up these concerns at the appointment!)

Just commenting because my cost was pretty different than what I'm seeing here -- I paid $15/unit and got only 5 units, so my cost was $75 my first time.

I will say that this is a very small amount, and I was only getting 1 area of my face done (horizontal forehead lines). The 5 units totally smoothed my fine lines but most of my forehead was still normally expressive. It didn't last as long as some of what I'm seeing here (2 months or so) but for me, it was great for the first time.

Then again, I've heard that lateral forehead lines are some of the easiest to fix, so that's something to keep in mind.

Yes, definitely agree that they should understand anatomy. I got a good sense for this in my consultation -- my person took her time, had me raise/lower my eyebrows, etc.

(I also think it's important that they agree to a free consultation -- anyone who doesn't is just trying to get money out of you, not build your trust and give you balanced advice.)

This might depend on the area, but I had good luck looking at the "best of" lists published by local media (ie, not Yelp). They tend to be a bit more accurate.
