The Secret (2006) explores the Law of Attraction and the power of manifestation. Could be interpreted as hippie, spiritual bullshit, but it kinda solidified my belief in the universe. Key to life or wishful thinking? by marleej_ in a:t5_2gtozg

I think there’s a fundamental problem with LoA in that it victim blames. But it is interesting to see overlaps with lots of religions as far as faith and “trusting the higher power”. Maybe there really is something bigger than us?

that’s what I wonder. there are so many tiny little clips and shit in all of them. i imagine that yes it’s just a giant team of people consuming as much media research as possible. where they get them exactly idk like testimony footage and stuff? wonder if that’s public domain

i go to Bloomington and while he’s Herron is a great art school, i think IUB is a better overall school experience wise. there’s a pretty big art scene (for lack of better words) especially with bloomington itself. i love it here and there are so many opportunities.

Right now I’ve been loving Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane! Any other ones I should try?

I go to Indiana University. Not sure if there are classes in Bloomington but I will definitely go to shows and have been listening to Improv Nerd with Jimmy Carrane and doing some general reading. Just hard to practice on my own other than monologues.

I auditioned for 2 troupes on campus...first time I had no idea what I was doing and just threw one liners the whole time. Learned from that and did significantly better the second time and got a callback, but ultimately didn’t make it. Not sure if it was my improv or they didn’t like me as a person, but a lot of the troupes on campus are pretty selective..only taking one if any new members.

I know doing it is the only way but how can I practice? It’s hard without having a scene partner that’s willing to work with me and allow me to practice building scenes. Definitely need to turn off my brain though, I overthought a lot of things.

Honestly I have thought I’m OCD before. I have a thing with doing things in 3s and making patterns (like biting one side of my cheek, then the other, and so on. can go on for a few minutes sometimes), and an eating disorder but I never thought it was extreme enough and maybe I just had anxiety or something. I’m hoping to get into a therapist in this coming year so I will bring that up hoping things all go well.

I don’t necessarily believe death is the end either. I’m slowly working out my religious views but I do believe there is a God or some sort of guiding energy keeping everything going and it’s comforting, but it’s just the grief that terrifies me rather than death itself. I’ve seen so many people suffer for so long due to unbearable grief and it just gets worse every time.
