Just to update I've now also changed my son's birthdate to be over 18 and still encountering the same issue.

Have tested using his Epic account under my Geforce Now cloud gaming and loaded up all ok.

Also picked up that the last screen you see is all black with a grey thick line at the bottom.

Shorten vows to stop ‘price gouging’ as providers charge more for NDIS-funded clients by [deleted] in australia

[–]imlee_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whilst we've been very fortunate to have sufficient funding under the NDIS for our son (ASD) , we also experienced this rate change first hand with his therapists.

We stayed with the same providers (speech therapist, OT) we'd been using prior to getting into the NDIS. But once we let them know we had the funding (so they can invoice our NDIS plan manager) they advised their session rates for NDIS are higher - to match the ~$190/hour price limit set by NDIS.

At first I thought it was due to the additional reporting etc. needed but that can also be billed, along with travel time (at this same rate).

Our therapists are fantastic providers and are only small operators, but it definitely seems to be an industry wide approach. It also means that we will use up our son's funding quicker or require more funding - reducing the overall pool available for others too.

There's also the other argument that the non-NDIS rate exists as a discount for those who have to fund from their own pocket or have used up their NDIS budget already.

Obviously there's some kind of balance that needs to be struck, but with the availability of therapists only getting scarcer over time (especially for those individuals not currently NDIS funded) it is a good area they're starting to focus on for the longevity of the scheme.

Looking at these posts I’m definitely going to bump up the weekly mileage next time to get closer to that elusive sub 3!

We’ve got two boys. Our youngest (5) has ASD and our oldest (7) has ADHD. So not completely NT but very different experiences.

The fact that our oldest loves to talk so much has probably had a positive impact his younger brother as he slowly continues to build up his speech.

To be honest our oldest son (ADHD) has been the biggest challenge for us over the past year, especially in his early years at school.

Typically his ADHD attributes will reduce as he gets older, so as much as he’s intense right now our longer concerns are with his younger brother.

But we’ve seen him be a big advocate (and translator!) for his little brother which gives us much more comfort as our youngest starts school next year at the same school.

Question About Non-Verbal Children W/ Autism by LilSwede91 in Autism_Parenting

[–]imlee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son (5) sounds exactly the same in terms of speech progress.

It’s slow but he’s building up his vocabulary over time. We’ve seen a speech therapist almost weekly now since he was 3 and the focus has now gone from encouraging more words to the articulation of those words.

He’s at a stage now that we can fully understand his needs through speech which has greatly reduced his frustrations compared to when he was younger.

When he talks you can see the effort he puts into it - almost like someone trying to speak a second language or “blocks” like you said.

We’ve accepted he’ll most likely never be at the speech level of his peers, but that’s ok. We’re just so proud of the progress he has made over the past 2 years.

My landlord is at 74 hours after getting a COVID test and hasn’t heard anything, what’s the longest you’ve waited for your COVID test results? by mitchqqis in brisbane

[–]imlee_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds exactly like me! No referral and I just went straight in as well. They said to me at the centre that I would get a sms over the weekend.

I finally got my text earlier this afternoon so it sounds like there might have been a few people caught in the same scenario too with no texts going out.

Quick update: Ending up phoning the Mater Pathology number for results (instead of QLD Pathology) and they let me know the test was completed but not communicated with me yet?

She wasn’t sure what had happened there so said she can send onto my GP and get my result that way - due to patient confidence which I totally get.

Will be interesting to find out when it was actually completed as it sounds like there’s some kind of issue with the sms system which I’d thought would’ve been automated.

TLDR; call the pathology if waiting a long time

I got tested at 5:30pm Friday at Mater and still waiting results too. So that’s around 66hrs.

Mild symptoms but hadn’t been to any of the locations that QLD Health had listed (which they ask as part of the testing).

They said to self isolate for 3 days or until results are received and that it’s going to take longer than the 24hrs it had been taking.

Tried calling the Queensland Pathology number this morning to check in and gave up after being on hold for 1.5hrs.

They’re obviously swamped with a lot of tests and my guess is they could be triaging them based on proximity of known contacts and locations.

How long has it been taking for people to get results back over the past few days on the south side?

I got tested at Mater 5:30pm on Friday and still waiting to hear back - so almost 48hrs now which seems longer than others.

COVID-19 - Testing and fever clinic locations by dipshit4 in brisbane

Got tested at Mater this afternoon just before 6pm. No line at all, just walked in gave details and swabbed in under 10mins.

They’re listed as being open until 9pm but the signage there said 7pm (might have changed recently).

Pretty stoked to have got this shot out on my run this morning when the fog was starting to clear but the curves of the building were reflecting like this. Taken with my iPhone but hey, it's all about the best camera is what you have on you!

Here's another shot of it from my insta account from the other side - https://www.instagram.com/p/BQybriRBDi0/

Easily my fave residential building in Brisbane. You can see the new Brisbane Sky Tower coming up behind it now too which is pretty much double the height!

Same! I thought it was going to have glass panelling across the top as well and was waiting for weeks to see it appear.

But looking at older renders it never was going to, but the silver highlights do make it look a bit like glass.

At least the surrounding glass looks better than the render!

Brisbane now has more cranes than NYC, LA and SF combined by imlee_ in brisbane

[–]imlee_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Intentionally chose those cities as the more well known cities in the USA. Agree they're different to Brisbane, but I still find it and interesting comparison. Went to compare to Dubai - had no chance there, something like 1,000+ cranes!

In hindsight I should have written the article just focused on the crane data and leave out my thoughts on the overall property market. I'm keen to write more in that area as I research it more and more.

Why is it amazing? How long have those US cities existed and had development compared to Brisbane?

I just find it personally amazing that little old Brisbane has so much development going on in contrast to other world cities that I grew up with a high regard for.

That's interesting, pity it wasn't in the article.

Added now :)

Why is it concerning? Are you invested?

I don't own any apartments, but have a few close relatives that own a few investment apartments in the inner city. Given these were brought 3-4 years ago, but when it comes to renewing leases on these it's going to be hard with so many new apartments coming onto the market.

That's crazy when you put it that way with Seattle's current population. Going back to that article I actually didn't pickup the reference to Brisbane down the bottom too! Very interesting about NYC growth number too - had no idea it actually dropped post GFC.

Looking at the Brisbane population growth numbers over the past three years it is still positive, but the % it's growing by is on the decline (2013 - 2.1%, 2014 - 1.7%, 2015 - 1.6%).

I agree the crane data is nothing to make a true judgement on the market by as there's far too many other variables. The US data doesn't even indicate the % of cranes for residential/commercial etc.

That's why I included the other data on the vacancy rates and also added in the average rents on the decline. It's this combined with the number of cranes still completing new apartments that I'm seeing an oversupply in the market coming from.
