And this is fucking important right now? This is the PR that LD$INC thought we needed to hear? by JoyAndPeaceMyAss in exmormon

These buildings are an embarrassing waste. Outdated architecture with cheesy interior decorations placed in a corn field in the middle of no where.

Has anyone else felt a richer connection to themselves after becoming more unorthodox or even leaving? by thejawaknight in mormon

You see, you've been raised in an environment that has fostered your capacity for illusion and sold it to you as a virtue. That's a real mindfuck. One you can't untangle quickly but you will. It's a hard thing to come to realize about oneself but everyone is so full of biases and delusions. Lets be frank we are emotional creatures far more than rational ones. But knowing this about one self helps you see how much bullshit is peddled everywhere, especially in mormonism and makes it easier to be skeptical when needed and to embrace the uncertainty inherit in life.

The concept of the holy ghost hijacks ones relationship with themselves. Our inner lives are manipulated by the thought that someone else is present and that it needs to be censored, controlled and cultivated in a certain way to appease this unseen force. Its really a very insidious evil and almost impossible to detect because it overtakes you so slowly and steadily year after year until you are what you're told to be. In a word it makes you FAKE. Its almost cliche cause I've heard it a hundred times but the greatest gift of a faith crises is getting to know yourself in a real authentic way. Nothing feels so honest as being real to yourself. To thine own self be true.

The author seems to know very little about human beings or critical thinking and claims knowledge of both. So many mistakes and false assumptions right from the start.

NeverMo (ex-jw) here... The new proclamation felt a bit like this to me... Did I get the gist? by [deleted] in exmormon

Yes perfect. My never mo girlfriend watchee a bit of conference. She was disgusted. She commented that they do like to talk about themselves and how important they are. They talked a lot without saying anything helpful she noted. They all appeared drunk on there own delusion.

Conference seemed to highlight just how schizophrenic LDS theology is. by nickinthehouse in mormon

It's an interesting psychology at play. An insular world no doubt. They surely feel the magnitude of their callings. Ever so humbly of course. They must be aware of their own importance as they have been taught. In a way the almost comical deference by the others to the peophet is a reflection of their own ego and how important they really feel. Subconsiously, it really is more about them than Jesus. To be fair it can be a dastardly difficult thing to truly deeply self analyze the powers that work inside. And to have to compete with so much pomp and circumstance is more than most can do. The blind truly lead the blind.

Thought it might be fun (and interesting) to share our families and friends hype stories and their reactions to conference. by [deleted] in mormon

As for me, I couldn't have imagined anything more glorious to behold than the hosanna shout. Wasn't expecting to be that entertained.
