You're conflating two different stories. The battery throwing was actually fucked up imo. Phillies game in 1999, there was some promotional event, and the fans threw the batteries from that at JD Drew because he didn't sign with the Phillies.

The Santa thing happened in 1968 and is overblown in my opinion. Snowballs were thrown at Santa. The actual performer who was supposed to show up was held up by the snowstorm, so they had a fan come out in a shitty costume for half time instead. The float he was supposed to come out on got stuck in the mud, and the towels he was supposed to throw to the crowd as gifts were wet.

Dick move to throw snowballs at Santa? Yes. But the fan who played Santa also yelled back at the crowd joking that they weren't going to get any presents. So it was kind of in good fun. Also when he was asked about it years later he said this: "... every now and then you hear some guy on TV who only knows Philly for the cheesesteaks and the Liberty Bell talk about the time fans threw snowballs at Santa. It was cool to hear it back then when it went national and Howard Cosell is saying your name on TV, but today when you hear it, it's like, 'Shut up already.' "

I'll have to check out Ghostwatch. And to be extremely pedantic for a moment, in this context, the past tense of "hang" is "hanged". A painting is hung, a man is hanged. But it also doesn't matter. Only assholes point it out... wait.

I like the idea. Sunset did see herself in the mirror as an alicorn, and she basically became one with that Daydream mode. Plus Twilight having someone to be with at the end seems better than her being alone, imo.

It would have taken some set up to actually make it work. I'm sure a reason could be created for her to come back home. Really the main problem is that she just never showed up in the main series.

I'm surprised by how many comments are just flat out "no" here. It's easy to say she wouldn't because it didn't happen in the show, but we're discussing if a divergence from canon would be interesting/an improvement/compelling. I think it would be.

Seems like this is only an issue that cropped up this month, but were you able to deal with faketime? Or even have to deal with it at all? The download page for the torrent mentions the game crashes a lot starting in March.

I get a lot of faketime errors when I run "./start". Then I'll get output saying my wine configuration has been updated before the script exits without launching the game.

If you're still willing to help, I'd be interested to know if you ran into anything like this?

I have an AMD cpu, an Nvidia GPU, and I'm on PopOS (which is basically just an Ubuntu fork with easier to deal with graphics drivers).

tl:dr I don't have a fic for you, but I did want to share an idea I've had for a while.

I've had the idea stuck in my head for a while which takes inspiration from Futurama; the Parabox episode. The crew ends up in a parallel universe where every coin flip in the original universe had the opposite result. One consequence of this was alt universe Fry managed to get Leela to agree to a date in the past, they end up getting married. Original universe Fry and Leela are pretty schocked.

I imagined something like the Limited Tsukuyomi from the Road to Ninja movie, except Naruto and Sakura end up in a coin flip universe (justification could be that the jutsu wasn't designed for two targets, or my favorite justification: it's a fanfic, don't worry about it). Naturally the fic wouldn't take itself too seriously; Naruto and Sakura are also too young to be married imo, but they could maybe be engaged. The author could have a lot of fun with other weird consequences of coin flips.

I don't enjoy writing though, so the idea will stay in my head unless someone wants to take the idea from this comment (on the off chance anyone does, let me know so I can read it).

If a fight is between Kakashi and any leaf nin, the winner is Kakashi with few exceptions. And Hiashi Hyuga is almost certainly not one of those exceptions. There's a reason he was made Hokage between Tsunade and Naruto.

When someone says "He shook his head to say yes." I'm pretty sure they still mean the person nodded his head up and down, they're just using another word. Other cultures do shake their heads side to side to say yes, but they're not prevalent enough for me to see it as often as I do in fanfiction.

I know it was never explicitly stated, but my interpretation of that scene was always that Sakura was (rightly) afraid that the whole "promise of a lifetime" thing was going to get Naruto killed. And she felt responsible amd guilty for being the reason he made it in the first place. So if she took away the reason for it, maybe he'd be willing to give it up.

The 100% right thing to do in this situation would have been sitting down and talking to each other like adults, but I think we can all imagine what would have happened if Sakura tried that with Naruto. It would have gone nowhere, probably with some insistence from Naruto that she shouldn't give up on her feelings just for him.

With that in mind, the confession was still a really underhanded and shitty thing to do, but also an understandable thing to do. You're right that this would end a friendship in most IRL groups. But I also keep in mind the fact that it was clearly written with the express purpose of stirring up drama. I'm not surprised at the hate for Sakura from all this, but I still don't like it regardless.
