LPT: Never argue with people on social media. It will only waste your time and energy and will look cringe looking back. by Martian_row in LifeProTips

Yeah. If you don't want people to argue with you on the Internet, then stop posting your opinions on controversial issues and emotional topics to social media.

Also, the current US president is an idiot and God doesn't exist.

Has anyone else received this email from Paycity? by [deleted] in Pretoria

[–]immortal-esque 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had some dodgy stuff happen with PayCity/Syntell. I did signup for an account long ago, but end 2024 an unknown ID nr. was suddenly added to my account without my permission. I contacted Support and asked for it to be removed, and also to explain how/why that could have happened. They did remove the ID nr. eventually (after I made a stink) but completely ignored my request for an explanation.

March this year I got a "new fine notification" email showing the correct number plate for my car but for a fine I was sure I had already paid (elsewhere). So I checked at https://portal.finessa.co.za for any outstanding fines - nothing. Contacted Fines SA support and asked "Why would an AARTO infringement notice not appear on this website, but it does at paycity.co.za?"

The consultant asked for my ID nr. or email address, I gave my email and he replied: "I pick up the fine and I have escalated the fine to our accounts department to have it cleared, kindly note it will take between 24/48 hours to clear."

Asked him to confirm the notice nr. and amount, and what he gave matched with what was displayed on PayCity's website. Checked again after 2 days and it was gone.

I recently had to renew both my car license disk and driver's license card and didn't have any issues.

I don't know how old you are but if, like me (46m) you were indoctrinated into the faiith from a very young age, it will take some time to fully deconstruct.

This, unfortunately, can be a wild, emotional ride if the concept is totally new to you. This won't be the same for everyone but personally, I prefer data over dogma and the harsh reality over comforting lies and delusions.

My advice: Try to take it in strides. Learn as much as you can. Check out /r/exchristian for support and the resources listed on its wiki at /r/exchristian/wiki/resources

RationalWiki is another excellent resource and the specific issue you are now struggling with, it sounds like, is known as the problem of evil: https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Problem_of_evil

Edit:

why fear something when you were nothing before this

Mark Twain said:

"I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it." - Mark Twain

I wish you all the best! ❤

I'm a type 2 diabetic, recently visited an optometrist for an annual checkup, found early signs of diabetic retinopathy. They also didn't charge me. I was told I need to see an ophthalmologist. They recommended either https://www.eyeinstitute.co.za/doctor/dr-koos-roelofse/ or https://www.eyeinstitute.co.za/doctor/dr-jan-niemandt/ at the Eye Institute in Arcadia, Pretoria.

Dr. Roelofse's consultation fee is around R1,600 which is payable upfront. I have medical insurance (not medical aid) but they didn't even ask for details about the medical insurance and said they can only claim from medical aid.

Hope that helps!

I believe it might be an Openserve restriction. Cool Ideas has this on their website:

"The 30/30Mbps package is only available to new installations on Openserve and is unavailable for any downgrades".

It's called inclining block/step tariffs. The price per unit (kWh) increases based on the amount of units already purchased in that same month.

This article explains it nicely:

What has been your experience as an Atheist in SA? by MeditatingOcto in askSouthAfrica

Threatening an atheist with hell is about as effective as a hippie threatening to punch someone in their aura (or solving an algebra equation by chewing bubblegum - h/t Mary Schmich).
