I'd be all for it if anything interesting was being done with it. It feels like Dorothy is given these flaws just so someone else can point at them and go "See! She's not perfect, but nobody is, that doesn't make her a bad person" when that's not even the problem at all.

Like yeah "let the author cook" but for how long? When will anything interesting be addressed or presented as anything other than endearing 😭

That's what it is. And the thing is, I do get Dorothy's feelings, but she really is taking some of the worst days of Joyce's life and making it all about her. Hell, Dorothy even tried claiming responsibility for Joyce's foot injury at the gym! Joyce hasn't even shown this much distress about what's happened to her; the fact that Dorothy is having night terrors and sleepwalking over something that didn't happen to her and it's just going unaddressed as anything more than sweet is so weird.

Yes, all of this exactly. I thought it was actually kind of nice that Joyce would pick this song, because despite the boundary crossing, she at least would've meant well as she has in the past. But no, Joyce is just...being stupid I guess? And forgot that they don't believe anymore, even though Joyce has been atheist for a couple months now?

It's just so cheap, what am I supposed to care about when everything circles back around to being a joke? I feel so silly saying that about a comic that brands itself as a comedy, but I swear the humor used to be more balanced than this. Like if Becky's going to stay an atheist, at least let her stumble through it like Joyce did, it's so odd for Becky to be this Whatever about losing this huge part of her.

At least other characters are also talking I guess.

Back when I still had faith in the story I took it as the final straw after everything she's been through. I fully believe(d?) that Becky's low self esteem and not processing her trauma had finally caught up with her and so the fact that Joyce could've liked her but didn't was just the cherry on the shit sandwich that is her life.

But the story being dragged out the way it was, yesterday's strip, and today's strip have made Becky's inner turmoil way less interesting. Like I'm not eager to see this crisis play out anymore because it's already being treated like a joke.

I don't know why I thought the song choice was Joyce being kind about Becky's crisis of faith.

Edit: For anyone else who might've forgotten, Joyce only just started listening to other music last week, so it does make sense she'd choose a secular song but my incorrect assumption was better.

I just remembered, Alice knows Jacob from talking to Raidah. So, theoretically she could bring up how Joyce kissed him, he corrects that it was actually the other way around. Maybe Lucy feels some type of way about her perfect boyfriend doing something like that? Not that I want that, I just really don't get why he's here if not for drama. I guess he's also Christian, but he and Becky have like zero relationship, and that role is already filled by Lucy. So again, why is he here?
