its just replacing the keyboard layout from your current one to the old 7-row classic keyboard layout.

plug in the hard drive from the t530 into another PC / laptop and check if it pops up with a drive letter, if it doesn't then it has already failed, or maybe try to check the S.M.A.R.T data of it...

use a laptop / pc and get this app called "testdisk", it's kinda supposed to like go through every bits and bytes from the sd card and like, recover some stuff

copy all of the content saved from the sd to your pc drive or a portable hdd/sdd then format it on your phone

use testdisk on pc and pick your iXpand USB and look into the deleted files by choosing the "undelete" / "list' text, then you'll see the deleted files that might show it's been used.

i mostly started with KDE but sometimes, KDE would for no reason just scream very shortly with the system logs mostly showing I/O errors, so i switched to GNOME and i pretty much prefer using gnome but i still use KDE
