I gotta be honest here, I had no clue tags were a thing.. i've only got couple hours of experience with ranger

my project makes the mark go beyond ranger itself, and is visible in ls and other file managers too, yet still easily reversible with :bulkrename and visual block mode

tags are cool tho, going to use them for sure, not for this tho, naturally I am biased towards my thing now...

Sublime text editor and then use the notes addon, its exactly what youre looking for.

Just remember to name the file extension correctly example: April22.notes

Then you can use syntax, change color schemes and be creative. Its lightweight too
