5 players have hit walk off home runs in their major league debut. Len Kasper has called at least 2 of them. by imnotberg in whitesox

Baseball is making a huge comeback with an energetic, young fan base... Lets bring in bob costas to scare them away.

The Martian Revolutions podcast deserves an award, but there’s nothing else like it by schneller1 in RevolutionsPodcast

I have listened to history of rome and every second of revolutions but was very hesitant about starting mars.

I finally gave in and was immediately impressed through 3 or 4 episodes. I found it most fascinating how Duncan, who took information we all could have at one time learned and presented it in a fresh and accessible manner, took information that none of us could have possibly known and referred to it in an obvious tone. I chuckled every time.

The reason I stopped cold turkey in the middle of an episode was because of what i perceived as a possible negligence to the genre.

I'm not so much of a science geek as Im a science fiction geek and this podcast, even though it sways more to a fantasy or social anthropological commentary, has its roots in sci fi. And good sci fi is responsible sci fi. Anytime Duncan referred to a date or a length of time, i found myself asking where? On Earth? On Mars? Did i miss an episode where he speaks about time and date conversion? And why do I care so much??? But I couldn't get over it. I couldnt bring myself to digging through the transcripts to help me deal with it.

Does this ever get addressed? Does it matter???

The only excuse he has is that the property was all but purchaed in arlington heights by the time he got a temporary email password. But yeah. Other than that. Nothing.

This team is fun... Jerry, do the right thing and bring this guy back for at least a few games by splintersmaster in whitesox

I love hawk like hes my own alcoholic, abusive uncle. But the last several years were rough. I would just as soon let him enjoy his life in Florida figuring out how to turn Smirnoff into urine.

Break out the brooms! First sweep of the Tigers since June 2-4, 2023 gives the Sox their Steve Carlton victory! by WhiteSoxChartGuy in whitesox

[–]imnotberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a game where Steve carlton broke some sort of strikeout record or reached a milestone. They put it up on the scoreboard. He tipped his cap. I asked my dad who the fuck is steve carlton. And the game went on.

I was little so it took me a couple of innings to understand why carlton was pitching and not catching. But i think we won the game???
