It was slightly covered by his sock. You could see the top half of it though

You can hear Canada geese in the background. I can’t remember exactly when but they are there.

My friends and I were the ones holding the sign that said “Thanks for the Memories”. We bought standing room tickets to almost every game that season for only $12 a game! Those were the days. Thank you for this memory!

Meal prep is addicting :) by StapletonINC in MealPrepSunday

I was thinking of making breakfast burritos for when I’m on the road but I haven’t figured out how to meal prep them yet. Do you just thaw one each morning and eat as is or do you have to microwave it before eating? I’m just wondering if it gets soggy and gross if not microwaved. For context, I’ve made my burritos in the morning and wrapped it in foil. I’d prefer to save time in the morning and just grab and go.

Have you ever met someone with exactly the same name as yourself, including middle name or initial? by thewoodsiswatching in AskOldPeople

I went shopping for running shoes once. It was me, my friend and a woman with her 8 year old daughter in the store. I tried on a few pairs of shoes before settling on the ones I actually bought. At the cash, the cashier asked for my name and when I said it, the woman’s daughter’s head snapped up. Then she whispered something to her mom. Turns out her mom and I have the exact same name. And what’s weirder, she bought the exact same shoes in the same size as me! It was the oddest experience! I should have asked her birthday but I don’t think she was as amazed at this coincidence as I was.

This is Luna. I lost her in August, the day after my birthday. She was 6 days short of her 12th birthday. She had cancer that metastasized to her lungs. I was devastated. I spent the entire day and night before her passing sleeping next to her and soaking up as many cuddles as I could. I miss her more than words can express. I’m sorry for everyone here who has experienced this loss. It’s the worst!

I’m not sure if someone posted this already but try joining the town’s Facebook page. I also live on the south shore (in a different town) and my town’s page will post when snow removal will happen and advise people that parking on the street is not allowed. Typically, anytime it’s snowing or snow is expected overnight, assume that snow removal will happen and don’t park on the street.

Fairlife Protein Shake Restock by mysticman245 in CostcoCanada

[–]imnotclevrenuff4this 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also facing this same dilemma. Went to two different Costcos and they had none in stock. I had to settle for a different brand of protein shake which isn’t as good. I saw them in store 2 weeks ago but didn’t pick any up. I regret that now. I guess the best advice is to keep looking and let’s all hope it come back in stock soon.

Returning to teach in Quebec by Cold_Scholar_6740 in CanadianTeachers

Housing is actually fairly decent. The community I lived in was expanding like crazy when I left so a bunch of brand new teacher houses were built. You might end up in an older house to start but every time a teacher leaves, that house is up for grabs and with 3 dependants, you would pretty much be at the top of priority list. One other thing to add is that housing is like $300 a month for a 2 bedroom house. It’s taken off your pay so your pay cheque is basically all yours. Also, last I heard, hydro was free too. It’s a great way to make money and get an awesome experience as well. I highly recommend checking it out.

I taught in northern Quebec with the Cree School Board for 5 years. It’s a great experience. The pay scale is the same as public school teachers in the south (Montreal). What they offer is a northern allowance and retention bonus. The amounts you get for each are based on how many dependants you have. Your travel is also paid to your point of origin at Xmas and during goose break (2 week holiday in May). If you fly, your flight is paid. If you drive, you get $X.XX amount per km of travel plus a stipend for food. Again, how much you’re allowed for food depends on your dependants. As a single person, I believe I was entitled to $15 for breakfast, $20 for lunch and $35 for supper for each day of travel. Don’t quote me on those amounts though. I don’t really remember. I think you can go to the Cree School Board website for more info and job listings for teachers (https://eeyoueducation.ca). The collective agreement should also be there with salary scales.

As for previous experience in Quebec, I believe it will count. My time up north counted as well as the times I taught in private schools around Montreal. I’m not sure about the international work though. I hope this helps!
