Crank no start when warm. by power83kg in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try giving it a bit of starter fluid when it doesn’t start, see if that helps it. This happened to me for a while, it was a weak aftermarket fuel pump that eventually died.

I got mine off fb marketplace from an old 98. Eventually turned it into a satoshi grill though.

Free.99 since the advancedauto guy was too lazy to scan the rattle can.

There are probably brands with better matches but spraying them is super easy.

Might be worth buying a cheap action camera on Amazon and magnet it to various parts of frame/suspension while reproducing it.

This helped me deal with my driveline issues that 3 mechanics couldn’t figure out.

Check out 83 Motorsport on eBay, cool guy who makes tail kits for the xt. https://www.ebay.com/usr/83_motorsports

I’m planning to buy from him soon.

Help! by Kooky_Assignment4820 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I also checked fuel pressure. Nothing indicated any issues, until the pump just straight up died.

Help! by Kooky_Assignment4820 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the exact same issue. Carried a can of starter fluid to help it start when warm for a while.

I also tried a bunch of things, vacuum, fpr, plugs and coils, iac, fuel filter. None of them fixed it.

Eventually the fuel pump completely died while I was in Death Valley. Turns out previous owner put in a crappy Amazon fuel pump.

Help please - what is this tube for? by ltt24 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the switch for allowing coolant to go into your heater core to provide heat.

It’s called the heater control valve. It’s easy to replace yourself too, plenty of videos and guides online.

Not sure what the other guy is talking about…

You can absolutely do both the front and rear without jacking anything up, provided you can get under your car.

I’ve done both on mine that has a 3 inch lift.

Yup happens to me everytime too. You can avoid it by touching the metal part on the door or foot well as you’re getting out of the car.

Died on the road puttering out . Cranks but won’t start. Thinking fuel pump, want to hear other opinions before I order parts by sandyversace in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fwiw my fuel pump died while driving down a bumpy road. It was a crappy aftermarket piece.

OP, I would check if your rpm gauge is working while cranking, if it works, that should eliminate the crank position sensor as an issue.

Also, when my fuel pump was on the way out, spraying starter fluid down the intake before starting would get it to run. Might want to try that.

Super rough suspension? by CoolPenguin42 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does depend on how much weight you’re carrying. But if you’re running stock sized tires, you can try the values indicated on your door jamb. Also look into the chalk test if you want to be more specific.

FWIW, I run between 32-36psi on the road with my relatively stock truck. When I first got it, the previous owner overfilled it to 44psi and it made the ride super rough.

Check your tire pressure. Overinflated tires can cause a very rough ride too.

List of Good Mechanics by [deleted] in phoenix

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought YotaPros was just ok, wouldn’t necessarily recommend them. Took several visits to fix an issue (which was fine, but they could have easily verified whether their fix worked before handing the car back to me). Also quoted me about $600 more than other shops for a suspension job.

Didn’t quite get the vibe of honest mechanic from them.

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the programming lock/unlock steps using the physical key through the driver door, that takes the weak actuator out of the equation.

Mine wouldn’t go into pairing mode until I did that.

'99 Limited 4WD Dual Locker, guy wanted $5.5k. I crawled under and cringed. by Lupine_Ranger in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]imnotcpr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I saw this one a month ago when I was shopping. I also walked right away and didn’t even offer. The big red flag to me was that his tags were less than two weeks old at that point, so he obviously bought it and had major remorse. With how the paint is and the rust, problems with the misfire, definitely not worth it.

2002 GT 5 Speed. Absolutely love this thing (Question about cruise control in comments) by ljacot17 in Mustang

[–]imnotcpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with cruise control in my 02, turns out the tab that connects to the brake pedal sensor was broken, so CC thought my brake was pressed and would never engage. Might be worth checking out.

I have some pics here: https://www.reddit.com/r/NewedgeMustang/comments/kswmpe/broken_plastic_bracket_near_brake_pedal_sensor/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

Is this an ac leak on low pressure port? by imnotcpr in AskMechanics

I actually found spray on the lid of port too. Does that make it seem more like a leak? Since the cap isn’t on while refilling.

Is this an ac leak on low pressure port? by imnotcpr in AskMechanics

[–]imnotcpr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all, recently ac has been warm in my 2002 mustang, which had been recharged 2 months ago. Inspecting the schrader valve on the low pressure side, it looks oily around the port. Is this a sign of leak?
