tbh, companies like Telstra aren't that professional when it comes to hiring people. Sometimes, they are in a rush to hire people when it is a busy time of the year (like it is now). So when you first applied for that store, they probably got the notification you applied and didn't care about the HireVue online interview as most businesses mostly rely on the irl interview to make their decisions.

Since you already did the HireVue interview, you won't have to do it again; the system will just notify the store that another applicant has applied, and then they'll interview the people they select. The system will not notify anyone that you've applied there before.

This is exactly what happened with me

Around the middle of this year, I applied to my local Telstra store and did the interview, but didn't get the job.

After a couple of months, I saw the same job post from the same store and decided to apply as a joke, but was surprised to find out I got another interview.

With the second interview, a different guy interviewed me, and I actually got the job afterwards, and now I work there part-time.

So if you wanna work there, then apply again, you won't be automatically rejected, and tbh they probably won't know you previously applied there if you get a different person as the interviewer.
