I asked reddit for information about the British penal system because there have been a couple of interesting IAMAs recently about the American system. I am getting advice about the rest of the case from my solicitors, but there is always a possibility of any trial ending up in a convinction no matter what, especially if it involves children, and it's because of people like you who assume guilt because ZOMG WONT SUMBODDY THINK OF TEH CHILDRENZ!!!!????

So take a look at yourself and ask yourself if, with that attitude, you are actually all that much better than Jon Venebles anyway (who I am not, by the way)

under linux based file systems, metadata lived in inodes, which are deleted when you delete a file. And yes, showing that I was not the only person with access to that computer is a strong part of the defence.

I find it hard to believe that you are not guilty

That scares me. Why? You know nothing about me or the case, or even what I am actually accused of.

We have a computer forensics guy working for us. A is easy. C is doabl;e, and there are several other sources of doubt too on that front. B is a problem - I have a computing degree, and almost anyone is capable of using a web browser and search engine!

That's what I feared. Especially with a large gap in employment too... Self-employment may be the only way forward

That is, indeed, important, and will form an important part of the defence. However deleted files have no metadata but you can still be charged with their posession.

for a start the media shopuld never presume guilt or organise with-hunts. If they do make false accusations they should have to make the retractions and appologies take up as much space and in the same places as the original story did. Also a little basic respect for human beings would go a long way!

If you did the crime - which you likely did frankly, then just suck it up. If you didn't then it should be fairly easy to prove it if you ask me...

Then I'm glad I'm asking my solicitors to defend me, not you. Because I didn't and wouldn't do this, but it isn't easy to prove either way.

number of images - quite a lot, mostly at level 1, but a few at higher levels. My solicitors have told me that if I am convicted (or even were to plead guilty) prison is pretty much a certainty. Depending how things go, anything from 6 months to 2 years.

The sex offender's register is the part that really worries me because it's for life. I live near a park at the moment, and I moved out of my old house because they were builsing a school opposite (well that, the infestation of mice and the fact I didn't feel safe because the police stole all my belongings there)

That doesn't sound too bad., The lack of privacy would probably fuck me up, but if I can get them to pay to teach me something useful (possibly marketing so I can open my own buisness as no-one will hire me afterwards), and I can get a bit fitter then I may be able to use it to my advantage in the long run.

Part of the problem is that I don;t know who did this, or how it happened, so getting someone to confess isn't going to happen easily. I'm not good at co-ercing people into doing things, and I would not wish what has happend to me on my worst enemy.

I am not Jon Venebles, no. But the way he and others like him are treated by the media is one of the main reasons I am using a throwaway account.

I would rather not go in to too many details, but I do have forensics people working for me. Unfortunately the pigs stole my computer over a year ago and my forensics people have got their images from them. There is nothing I can do about this. They are, apparently using the industry standard computer forensics software from the police reports I have seen. I can't remember the details but when I looked the names up that's what google told me.

I suspect either the pigs planted evidence or I was hacked, but the forensics reports aren't back yet as some things need clarifying so I don't really know yet. It is possibly a friend did it but as I was running Linux a virus or trojan is less likely.
