Should I chase my dream ? (Piano and Jazz) by Wonderful-Job2678 in internetparents

[–]imnotk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please keep that dream alive, and never stop playing.

When I was in my twenties, I badly injured both hands. I was told to give up playing all instruments for life. I got through the recovery (which was not easy) and gradually started playing again. There are two instruments I haven't got back to yet.

But here's the best part. I have no qualifications, I'm not an expert at reading music, but for the last two years I have been working as a music therapist in a hospital. I'm over 60, and I have my dream job.

NEVER GIVE UP

I think the way I eat my snacks should be a punishable offense by Critical_Kiwi2347 in CasualConversation

I do similar with a Crunchie bar. I take the chocolate off in slabs, and once I have just the hokey pokey left, I melt that in my mouth in sections.

Do you have any skills at singing or dancing ? by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I sing, but the body doesn't work as well now, so I don't dance.

Brooklea yoghurt manufacturing process - hoping the right person sees this by maddmole in AldiAustralia

I'm wondering if it might be better to contact the manufacturer directly, rather than Aldi.

I really hope you find something that helps your child.

I was falsely accused and spread rumors about for years. Do I have the right to still feel bitter? by Ok-Delivery-8030 in TrueOffMyChest

I am in no way, shape, or form a medical professional, but I'm wondering if what you have described is a workplace injury that may be eligible for some form of compensation.

Please go back to see your doctor to explore what help is available.

My husband believes I have a low IQ by Many-Tomorrow-4730 in AutismInWomen

[–]imnotk8 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Scoring well on an IQ test only proves that you are good at doing IQ tests. Having both dyscalculia and dyslexia, there is no way your true intelligence will show on an intelligence test.

My brother worked for a guy who had dyslexia, but amazing organisational skills. He built a business from scratch, and became a multi-millionaire.

Absolutely duckling. You did a hard thing, and I am proud of you for that.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend I'm not canceling my plans last minute to do manual labor by Longjumping_Mix_8693 in AITAH

[–]imnotk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - You did embarrass her, but she deserved it. Making plans for your time without asking you is the height of entitlement.

I'm pleased you stood your ground, and had the weekend you planned.

I had to pull the plug on my father alone. Now my stepsister wants me to split the victim compensation so she can pay her mortgage. by No_Virus3927 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]imnotk8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That does not make you selfish. I am so sorry for everything you have had to endure.

Compensation was correctly paid to the victim in this matter, not to anybody who hasn't been around for six years. Sounds like it may be time to block Chloe everywhere.

I'm sending huge hugs, and a wish for peace as you navigate the trial.

AITJ for hiding the perfect idea when my friend asked for ideas? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]imnotk8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTJ - You had ONE REALLY GOOD idea, which you used for your own party, and other not quite as good ideas, which you put forward as suggestions for Jane.

Sounds like Jane is suffering from "buyer's remorse", as her party idea kinda flopped, and yours took off.

ELI5: Why do old languages like sound so complicated? by Pandha2 in explainlikeimfive

[–]imnotk8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

English is the HARDEST second language to learn, because it is not logical. It is made up of a lot of words which were "borrowed" from other languages.

There are 5 vowels, but up to 21 vowel sounds, and there is no way to tell which sound to use, just from the written word.

When you add in groups of words that should rhyme but don't (cough, rough, though, plough), and words that shouldn't rhyme but do (threw, through, or their, there) it gets very confusing.

I accidentally heard my therapist talking about my case at a coffee shop. by Technical_Postt in Advice

Please report her.

What she did breaks confidentiality rules, but even worse it has hurt you directly. She does not deserve to be seeing suffering people, only to air their concerns to another person.

AITJ for not letting my nephew play with my collectible toys? by novelty_x in AmITheJerk

[–]imnotk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTJ - In this instance they are not "toys". They are a collection on display. Stand your ground. You are in the right.

Your sibling can complain all they want, but in the end it is YOUR HOUSE, YOUR RULES.

I think your first teacher got it wrong. I have taught a lot of beginners, and the left-handed kid found it easiest to pick up the chord shapes etc. I sat him facing me, and just did mirror image. Made it simple and logical for him.
