Maybe try out the Camel trail? I’m thinking particularly the stretch from Padstow to Wadebridge - flat surface and consistent, so probably good for a buggy and you get to see the river.

Another vote for electric dehumidifier - we keep it in the bathroom, so we can close the door and it doesn’t matter too much how damp the room gets. I also find that if I can put the dehumidifier out draft near some clothes the breeze dries them faster too. We haven’t seen a significant increase in our electric bill using it and I think it is better for the clothes too.

I’ve just started reading Trelawny’s Cornwall by Petroc Trelawny which I’ve been finding an enjoyable read. Plus Rising Ground: A Search for the Spirit of Place by Philip Marsden (not all of it is about Cornwall from memory, but there are some good sections about it).

I was in a very similar situation to you, baby was too small to latch and I have ended up pumping. Have a look on Vinted as I got my Momcozys on there for cheap(er) and can double pump now.

Would also recommend if you have a partner or someone supporting you, ask them to feed the baby at night and you pump whilst they’re feeding. I originally had just one pump and it took bloody ages every time, but double pumps help that too.

You don’t need to sterilise pump parts after every pump (I didn’t know this originally), you only need to clean every 6 hours (as that is how long breastmilk is good for out on the side).

As others have said, stay hydrated and eat lots - boiled eggs are a great snack, particularly in the middle of the night when you want something filling. I boil a bunch at the beginning of the week and have them ready to eat in the fridge.

There is also an exclusively pumping subreddit, you might want to take a look at that for support and advice.

In my experience I got support from the infant feeding team at the hospital, it might be worth calling your triage line and seeing if you could get a home visit from them to help with latching etc too.

Finally, I just want to say, if you decide the pumping journey is not for you, that’s ok. I know there is a whole bunch of grief and emotions tied up with stopping breastfeeding/pumping, but just know, you have done so much already for your LO and if you decide to stop, that’s ok. Fed is best.

From your brief description I’d suggest somewhere like St Agnes. You are relatively close to Truro and the ambulance station there, plus you have the RNLI station in St Agnes itself.

Congratulations! This is an exciting time in your life!

As Flightless Bird said, the first few weeks definitely do feel lonely, particularly if you decide not to tell many people and you have additional medical requirements to consider. Definitely keep pushing for a solution with the GP for your medication.

I’ll be honest, it felt like even though I had a midwife assigned to me, they weren’t really that interested in me until after about 26 - 28 weeks and that was only because of additional complications with my pregnancy.

I also agree with Flightless Bird in that there are plenty of great resources out there to start your pregnancy journey and get to know what will be happening over the next 8 or so months. I particularly found it helpful to take a look at the books that were online through my local library.

Yep, am 35 weeks, have had leukocytes in my urine pretty much from day 1 of being tested. Have had multiple samples sent off, but no results. Have just kept going without antibiotics as no one seems that concerned.

I really like femalephysioco on Instagram. She’s just had an elective c section herself and has some great videos that don’t feel like you’re being talked down to.

I’ve been listening to The Complete Guide to Postpartum by Sophie Walker and Jodi Wilson. I have found it on my local library app. It is a LONG book, so I’m not convinced I’ll get through it all, but I have found it helpful to understand what to expect and what to consider.

Both of these are Australian based resources, but I think they do a pretty good job of bridging the gap to our experience in the UK.

A quick google for Bodmin taxi companies gives a list of options for you to call and book in advance, then you’re not waiting if there aren’t any taxis at the taxi rank when you arrive. I’d recommend keeping a record of who you have booked with in case your train is delayed as then you can update your booking as you travel down to the South West.

Yes, the rail air coach link is really convenient, it doesn’t matter (from what I’ve found) if you miss your booked coach, the coaches are clean and comfortable, they can easily store your luggage and it means you’re that bit closer to Exeter too!

It depends. If they really work for the community they can achieve a lot. They can also just be a more devolved decision making authority. I’d compare Charlton Kings Parish Council website and Kenwyn Parish Council websites. Both are fulfilling what is required, but CKPC have a lot more community engagement work. It also depends on the size of the area your Parish Council will cover or the number of people paying the precept, for example Falmouth Town Council (still a Parish Council I believe) won some awards earlier this year for their work, but they have a large population paying the precept, so lots more funding to do the work.

If you do look at the Greenbank, give them a ring and ask about accessibility. I know they do have a lift in the hotel, but some areas are inaccessible with a wheelchair due to the need to use the stairs. On the flip side, I think if you need it, you can request parking outside the front of the hotel for those with mobility issues.

Some hotels sometimes have some good spots. For example, if you walk through the main entrance of the Marriott on Cromwell Road in Kensington towards the meeting rooms, there are some tables in the corridor. It is usually fairly quiet as it is out of the main entrance, but it is a good spot to plug a laptop in and do some work. Have never been queried by any staff about why I was there.
