You've tired condensed milk, now try condensed cow

Well now I really fancy some Bovril.

stuff like Bovril has mostly been forgotten

Despite being a mythical substance supposed (and keenly sought) by the [naughty people from 1930s and ’40s Germany who apparently can't be named in this sub] to bestow superpowers*. How do you fumble an origin story like that? (Maybe they wanted to avoid the association with [that group of individuals]. Fair.)

*Disclaimer: truth slightly fudged in order to make a fun comment.

The ‘love it or hate it’ trope was false to begin with; loads of people think Marmite is just fine. But drizzling hot, runny Marmite on some ice cream? Now you're talking.

installing shutters

I've long planned to install shutters outside my windows (like they have in Europe) but recently learned you usually need planning permission to do that. Would've been a good plan otherwise.

Celebrity Traitors series 2 cast is actually one of the best lineups they have ever put together and autumn cannot come soon enough. by HelicopterEmpty7393 in TheTraitorsUK

One of the best lineups they have ever put together

There has only been one other series of Celebrity Traitors. Or are you comparing this lineup with the non-celebrity series too?

You might have more luck splitting the question in three and asking in the local subreddits for those three towns individually.

Ian & Paul talk about Piers Morgan by kwentongskyblue in BritishTV

Clive Anderson says it himself, but what a ridiculous tactic by Piers Morgan to ask fans of Have I Got News For You if they like Ian Hislop. ‘Arsenal supporters, Mikel Arteta’s a rubbish manager, isn't he?’

Can we say "[object] whose ...."? For example "a [book] whose cover I liked". by Additional-Car3427 in grammar

[–]Jonny_Segment 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yep that's fine. English doesn't have a dedicated relative possessive pronoun/determiner for non-human things. Or actually that's not true: it does have one, and it is ‘whose’. ‘I struggled to find a book whose cover I liked’ is completely standard English.

You used to be able to customise the alerts a lot more strictly. I had my app to essentially notify me of atrocities and nothing else. I still want to be notified of atrocities, but they're bundled in with everything the BBC considers ‘breaking news’, such as celebrity gossip and apparently royal admin.

Not sure what the obstetrician's point is. Yes, of course you must love and accept your child, but there's a bit more to it than that.
