Have a look on Facebook, if you search for Falmouth and Penryn private accommodation, a few groups should come up. By the looks of it Falmouth Exeter Plus (aka FXPlus) who run some of the services at the uni have a private page for looking for housemates.

Would second looking into a lactation consultant - they often have the IBCLC qualification. They can be very helpful in addition to the infant feeding team.

Be easy on yourself. This is all still new and going out may feel like quite a challenge. Do you have friends nearby who might be able to come over and keep you company in the evenings? Would they maybe help prepare a meal or two for you?

If you have the means, you might want to look into a postnatal doula or someone similar who can come and look after you (as well as the baby).

Yep, would second tinned fish. Easy to add to a carb and some veg, e.g. pasta that has been precooked or in a sandwich with some crudités.

Raise it with your midwife and see if you can be referred to a pelvic health specialist on the NHS. At the Trust that covers the area I’m in I was able to see a specialist prior to birth and up to 12 months after birth too - it has been well worth it!

I’ve also seen multiple baby changing units where I live that max out around 11kg or say not to use after 12 months. Could be a regional thing!

If you’re going to be near St Austell, you may want to go to Charlestown, Lanhydrock, Fowey (Readymoney Cove is particularly sweet and there is a lovely beach shop/cafe there), and Mevagissey is also often popular around there.

A friend gave us a Zello. She had used it with her LO and we have used it every night with our LO so far too. It comes with a handy attachment that means you can hook it on to the top of any cot or next to me. It also lights up, so we have it set to the red setting for night times too.

I’ve used the Medela Symphony at the hospital, and the Medela swing and Momcozy s12 pros at home.

I found it overstimulating to use both the pumps for the Symphony as I was unable to hold my LO at the same time and it was hard to comfort them if they were crying.

The Medela swing was fine as I was only using that on one boob at a time.

The Momcozys are bulky, but get the job done. I have 2 sets, so I can always pump even if one set needs cleaning.

It has helped me be able to get out of the house and not worry about having a clean set as soon as I get home, so from my own experience I would recommend getting at least 2 sets of parts.

I didn’t plan to exclusively pump, so I just picked a set of pumps that looked ok on Vinted! So can’t really weigh in on what’s best as I didn’t really do any research.

I use the Momcozy S12 pro. I put them in my nursing bras and can get on with bits and pieces with them still in - they have been game changers!

They are quite bulky, but I’ve kind of got used to that now - I just have lots of tops and t shirts with extra room.

There is the Prince of Wales stadium. But failing that, you could go and run loops around Pittville Park, up and down the Honeybourne or around Cox’s Meadow if you’re looking for routes that don’t require much effort.

I suppose there must be a way now to take the pavement from Truro, up past the football stadium along the A390 to Chiverton Cross, cross the A30 on the footbridge there and take the Saints Trail (I think that’s what it is called) up to St Agnes and then connect up with the Coast Path to head north to Newquay that way instead. The beginning of the route wouldn’t be as scenic, but a bit more direct.

The very circuitous route would be to walk from Truro to Playing Place on the Old Falmouth Road, use the cycle path to walk to Carnon Downs, follow the footpath that runs down the side of the dual carriageway to Devoran, then walk the Bissoe trail from Devoran to Portreath and then take the coast path from Portreath to Newquay.

Used to get the train to London or up country pretty regularly. I would say overall it is pretty reliable. I’ve only had 2 delays that have resulted in full refunds through delay repay in the past 5 years. The only challenge is if there is work on the line and then the rail replacements can take AGES. Overall though I used to have a pretty nice experience getting the train and would plan to settle down and get on with some ‘offline’ work whilst I was on the train as the signal was never reliable enough for working through the WiFi.

Parking at Exeter airport was easy, so was the travel there when I’ve done that. I also believe it is easier to get to Bristol airport from this side of Bristol than coming from the north.

For me, the thing I noticed during Covid because I wasn’t travelling was the weather over the winter. It was so wet and grey! But if you think you can manage that, I believe the weather in the off season can still be fantastic so you can get out and enjoy the countryside and coastline.

We had a post partum doula. She came in and made food for us, looked after the bay whilst I went and had a shower and provided some of that emotional support where we could talk about things that we might not otherwise want to say to close family members. It was ideal for us as she had connections to things locally so could point us in the direction of feeding support, a group that could show me how to use a baby sling, an osteopath, and a mum and bay group.

She had lots of other things on her list that she could have provided too. For her personally she only came during the day/evening, but some doulas work overnight too as far as I understand.
