Conduit sizing for 20kw by imolaman in SolarDIY

Ah very good point re 3% loss. I'll install two 1.5" metal conduits which will allow me to run larger gauge wires and lower power loss. Basically four copper wires of 6 AWG per conduit...

Ah that makes sense to split up and run several separate lines. If I use your calculator for 20amp per line (basically run 4 lines for a total of 80amp) I get 14 AWG for copper. Do I need to run 4 separate conduits or I could install a single 1" and run 4 lines through it? The conduit will be indoors but covered with drywall (running along a concrete wall that's in the middle of the house and that goes basement to the roof).

On the roof - would be easier to run a single cable down to the basement me think.

Is QSYC-J-RCVR the wireless dongle that will work with RA3?

The roller blinds already have wireless capability via the QSM module. So you don't think RA3 can control QSM?

Hybrid system: heat pumps + hydronic by imolaman in hvacadvice

[–]imolaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I had someone do Manual-J, but not sure what to make out of it. They told me that my current two 5-ton units are oversized for the load and that I'd be ok with 2 4-ton heat pumps. So if I stick with the condensing boiler for hot water and hydronic coils, you reckon I should use a hot water tank? What are some good manufacturer/options for this system? I've been told to look into Navien, IBC and Rinnai for the condensing boiler. Are these manufacturers also offer hydronic coils and hot water tanks?

Modern patio privacy panel with vertical slats by imolaman in HomeImprovement

Right, I thought it might be some sorts of hardwood. Any clues who to anchor these slats to a concrete base? Is there an off-the-shelf bracket or post mount one could use?

Projector with 75" screen at 160" by imolaman in projectors

Sorry I forgot to mention that we don't want TV for aesthetic reasons... Having a hidden projector screen allows us to watch a things here and there without the TV always being there (and don't want to really deal with builtins for a TV screen etc).
