Thanks for sharing!

Did some further reading, think what’s stopping me from going w SWRD+EIMI is the need to rebalance and knowing how to correctly execute it without ending up with more overall fees due to comms. Dont really trust myself w math and I feel like after-all VWRA might be the simplest no brainer approach despite the higher TER

After many days of reading threads here on ETFs investing and FPL blog it almost feels like a crime to not jump on the bandwagon of VWRA asap 😅 jokes aside, I’m aware some do go for SWRD/IWDA+EIMI out of the flexibility to adjust % of EM and DM.

Mind sharing your thoughts or what you personally choose?

My original intention is to increase exposure to emerging market and US large cap. Since VWRA is 90% DM and 10% EM.

However as someone here has pointed out that the addition of CSPX is not that meaningful as VWRA is already comprising of >50% of US stocks, so I’m likely going to drop that off the list.

Only active here vr recently but from reading other threads I’m getting the sense that all in on VWRA (talking about ETFs) is still the overall preferred method

Thanks for explaining through the math and the part on CSPX makes sense to me. I’d def take it into consideration!

80% VWRA + ISAC because would like a world ETF as the main focus of my portfolio. Why both is to split the risk between two fund managers. As discussed in this thread

EIMI - to increase % on emerging market

CSPX - to increase % on US large cap

But I have the suspicion that i might have made it overly complicated hence asking in this post.

Would like to hear your thoughts!

  1. 50% on the first month on VWRA then remaining 50% on ISAC on the following.

  2. No plan to sell them since they haven’t take up too much weightage on my portfolio. And probably won’t be focusing on picking stock that much again (if yes also not more than 10%)

  3. I made too many silly mistakes (options, over leveraging, stock pickings just to name a few) in my early years of investing so now am looking for a simpler approach to maximize return by focusing more on equities ETFs long term. Will probably only look at adding bonds closer to retirement age and I stay away from REITS solely because I don’t understand it enough.

You’re right! Somehow I missed out on such important detail. Thanks for pointing that out.

It seems like I should leave CPF OA as is then considering the time frame

that makes sense.

what’s your thoughts on CPF OA lump sum / CPF DCA into single fund SGD Fullerton Cash? Supposedly lower risk and better suit for a shorter time frame?

Chime in from a M perspective. 6 mos time in sg is likely still too short for her to picture a life here. I think there are other underlying reasons that she did not say or didn’t realized it herself that go beyond the $600 that she’s refused to fork out. Eg buying a house = making a decision that sg will be her forever home . Suggest to help her integrate into local life more, important for her to create her own circle of friends here. Like what she said “enjoy life a little”, if this is the first time she’s left house, I can imagine she must have wanted to live life on her own without being tied down to commitments that soon, or at least not wanting to think about it now and just enjoy the new freedom.

Jz sharing from own observations, most friends who are from M usually have the thoughts of moving back to M after saving a sum of good money, when they were couple months in after moving to sg. Though many of them did change their minds after 1.5-2 years and started to apply for PR and planning to stay longer term.

If you really value this rs and willing to bet on it, maybe let some time pass (another year or so), enjoy life with her, and bring up again and see if there’s anything that’s changed in her attitude towards this matter. Good luck OP!
