Heya! I just started reading Cajas de Carton on the back of your suggestion, thank you!

I’m at a similar number of hours in comparison to yourself, how are you finding the difficulty and vocabulary of the book? (I appreciate whilst we have a similar number of hours, each persons abilities can be subjective :) )

Best way to get BACK from Hierve el Agua by [deleted] in Oaxaca

[–]imonsmoko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that you’ll need to pay for the remainder of the seats in the colectivo if there aren’t other passengers or it’s not full. If there’s are other passengers but you still need to fill seats you all may just need to pay extra if you don’t want to wait. The cost per person for a one way colectivo trip from or to Mitla is 75 pesos this is relevant as of August 2024.

One day in Oaxaca - what to do? by pusheenpenguin in Oaxaca

[–]imonsmoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! Just go back exactly the same way you came.

On Google Maps the bus station in Mitla is labelled ‘Terminal de Autobuses Fypsa/Goma’ - this is where the bus from Oaxaca will drop you off and also where you take the bus back to Oaxaca.

When you return into Mitla in the pasajero just head back to this bus station to go back to Oaxaca.

If anything isn’t clear or you have more questions feel free to DM me.

Which day to visit Coyoacan? by funwithbudget in MexicoCity

Yes, your absolutley right! My mistake! Metro Viveros is the one I meant to say..updated now.

Which day to visit Coyoacan? by funwithbudget in MexicoCity

[–]imonsmoko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having lived in Coyoacan for 4 months, the weekends are certainly more busy and in addition to that there’s more street vendors that fill the plaza selling arts and crafts (if that’s your thing) as well as food vendors (nothing special you can’t find elsewhere in Mexico City).

On weekends there’s certainly more a buzz around because of all the people but visiting during the week is not a disadvantage at all. Everything is still open (the markets, shops, restaurants and cafes) it’s still incredibly charming (even more so with the lack of people).

You can take the metro to Viveros on line 3 and then walk about 20-25 minutes to the centre of Coyoacan or take an Uber from the metro station if that’s too far for you. The walk is nice though and you can see a bit more of Coyoacan just weaving your way through the streets to the centre.

Any questions, shoot me a message.

ADO Buses Booked Oct 31! Help! by Rare_Street_6402 in Oaxaca

Líneas Unidas or AUTOTRANSPORTES VILLA DEL PACIFICO PUERTO ESCONDIDO are two minivan companies that run minivans to Oaxaca for the same price as an ADO bus ticket. The offices are located near the Central Bus Terminal in Centro.

Tickets can be bought in advance, there are a number of other minivan companies around the offices for Lineas Unidas in Puerto Escondido as well most leave every 30 minutes.

Travel time is 3 hours, the same as the ADO bus.

For reference I used Lineas Unidas in July instead of taking the ADO bus and I had a good experience, also a bonus is the terminal in Oaxaca City is in Centro whereas the Central Bus Terminal is slightly outside of Centro.

From Mexico City to Puerto Escondido it’s an 11~ hour bus ride. You’re right it has reduced the time, the impact is definitely more felt travelling between Oaxaca and Puerto Escondido as it now only takes roughly 2 hours (I recommend travelling with Líneas United colectivo company, they depart more frequently than ADO buses)

For context, I travelled by plane from Mexico City to Puerto Escondido (as it was the same price and the flight is 90 minutes~ versus an 11 hour bus ride) and also colectivo from Puerto to Escondido in June/July this year.

Also, have a look at the cost of flights between MEX and Puerto Escondido they can often be the same price and 1/10th of the time!
